A TRADIE pulled over by police in a luxury sports car has more than $590 million in the bank but is not “at liberty” to say how he got it, a Brisbane court has heard.

Phillip Johnathan Harrison was today granted bail in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, a day after police pulled him over in an Audi sports car and found ice, viagra and ecstasy.

The bricklayer and carpenter told officers he was worth $12 billion and later explained to his lawyer he had been given the car by the government, the court was told.

The duty lawyer Nick Hanly said he had asked the 29-year-old the origin of his great wealth, which he had apparently only come into in the past 12 months.

“He said he wasn’t at liberty to say,” Hanly told the court. “At this point, I was considering getting mental health to come in.”

But Hanly said Harrison then urged him to log on to his online banking account, which showed a cash balance of $596m and a property portfolio of $1.56bn.

Such a net worth would make the labourer wealthier than the likes of the Harvey Norman co-founder Gerry Harvey, the mining magnate Andrew Forrest and property king Lang Walker.

“I would not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes,” Hanly said of his client’s bank balance.

The court heard Harrison was an ice user.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Sean Francis suggested Harrison’s passport be surrendered as a condition of bail, given his means could make him an increased flight risk.

Magistrate Anthony Gett agreed and also granted bail on the condition Harrison reside at a Tewantin address.

The matter will return to court on April 18.

Sunshine Coast self-proclaimed billionaire granted bail after fronting court on drugs and property offences

A Sunshine Coast man has been granted bail after being charged with drug and property offences.

Phillip Johnathan Harrison, 29, was pulled over in a luxury sports car yesterday.

Police allegedly discovered 12 grams of ice, worth around $12,000, in the car.

He was charged with possessing dangerous drugs, possessing utensils and possession of tainted property.

The court heard Harrison admitted to police he was a recreational ice user.

A police prosecutor told the Roma Street Magistrate's Court that bail was opposed on mental health grounds, because Harrison claimed to be a billionaire.

But Harrison's duty lawyer Nick Handly told the court he had checked Harrison's online banking account and confirmed he had $596 million in cash.

He also said Harrison had $1.5 billion in property.

'I own the ASX 200, I'm in control of it'

Outside court, Harrison said he told Mr Handly he had $1.2 million in property, not billion.

"My lawyer was delusional, I told him not to say it, duty solicitor not very good," he said.

"I just have to have a bit of a think about what the hell's gone on here. A lot of wrong has been done here, that's for sure."

Harrison claimed he was a billionaire.

"I didn't lie about that. It's $1.2 million in land, the rest in shares, ASX. I own the ASX 200, I'm in control of it," he said.

When asked if he had $596 million in his bank account, Harrison said he was not sure.

"It's the banks that do all the adding up, I don't really know," he said.

Harrison claimed the money came from profitable shares and from overseas sources, and that is wealth had nothing to do with drugs.

"How would I make billions in drugs without being caught? My investments, my ideas in cars, apps, trade, I sold them overseas, have been for years," he said.

I'm surprised he was clever enough to launder that much money and then expects people to buy the "cars, apps, trade" angle from someone who is otherwise a carpeneter (the perfect job for laundering large amounts of dirty money through real estate)

Superiority complex I would say, the bigger the con you get away with the safer you think you are. I read a great article recently about the great Hatton Garden heist, all the perps were old-school seasoned thiefs who definitely knew better and yet they thought they had gotten away with it so cleanly that they had the audacity to meet in a pub and talk about what they had done (all overheard by the police, ofc)

* here's that article btw http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2016/03/biggest-jewel-heist-in-british-history

no clue, since they found meth and paraphernalia on him maybe he was just spun and couldn't keep himself from talking?

Think it;s just 1.5 mil in property he owns and the rest in shares which he reckons could be in billions. He also claims he owns the Australian Securities Exchange which is the equivalent to owning the NASDAQ

This has to be the most interesting story I have read on bl in a while, I'll be checking back constantly until the truth of his story comes out.
This is like reading the inside jacket to a dan brown book, I HAVE to know what the story is now
If this was a film trailer I would preorder tickets....

Whaaat?! So he has a bunch of money, but even half a billion would be a ridiculously impressive amount for a 29-year-old to earn through even illegal means.

Though I guess if meth is really worth $1000/gram in Australia than anything is possible

I am wondering what he has been bringing in to the country. Thats a lot of coin..

Without getting too much into price discussion, police in australia have started disclosing the "street value" of seized drugs in terms of their maximum retail value (ie price of smallest amounts).

So that price per gram is the equivalent of 0.1g x 10 - rather than $/gram.
Which is still stupidly expensive - but it means all the figures quoted are inflated to lowest possible street pleb value.
This is actually official police media policy, as stated very recently (by Federal Police, but it seems like a lot of jurisdictions are playing the same game).

Obviously it skews the message of the reports, and makes all wholesale drug seizures seem like a bigtime haul on the authorities' part. A bunch of bullshit really - drugs are so expensive in australia that you hardly need to inflate the figures.
