toxicity of a testkit

I was wondering how toxic a testkit (for example ez-test) actually is. Ok i know that you shouldn't drink or inhale the reagent. But how harmful is it when you inhale some vapor's that are around you when you are testing a pill?, or what would happen if you accidentally get a miniscule bit of reagent in your body (this could happen by not proper washing your hands after the use of the testkit)?

They are very toxic.
Use with extreme care.
Keep your nose at a safe distance.
When spilling over your hands or anywhere else, wash with loads of water right away !
ALWAYS clean the plate after testing. Other people may be unaware of the danger if you leave it behind uncleaned.
Just be careful ;-)

thnx for the info, but i'm still wondering is it as toxic as for example strychnine?

In the case of Marquis reagent (what a basic ez-test is), sulfuric acid and formaldehyde IIRC, in the tiny amounts that would be on your skin after a non-thorough washing, I highly doubt it's poison-style toxic like strychnine, cyanide, atropines, or what-have-you. If you were to ingest a drop of it, to my knowledge it would be far from lethal; that would be painful and all-around Not Good (gastric upset, damage to the lining of the tract, etc) - toxic, but not deadly toxic.

The problem with troubleshooting is that real trouble shoots back.

This depends on your definition of toxicity.
Strychnine is POISIONOUS
Sulfuric Acid is CAUSTIC
This means that strychine will kill you by messing up your biological functioning
and
Sulfuric acid will kill you by melting your organs
(well kinda)
Personally i'd rather spill strychning on myself than sulfuric acid - same for injestion.
(BUT ITS BEST NOT TO INJEST/TOUCH EITHER!)
I've got a few clothes with holes in them from sulfuric acid that i spilled - kinda cool i think :-)
