Toxic Shrooms?

So, I got these shrooms from someone I trust. She made them into chocolates. I got together with a friend, and we each took 2 grams. We ended up both going home because we felt like shit. After we went home, we both had terrible trips. We felt EXTREMELY sick. My friend went home and went like, insane and trashed his house and his parents thought he was crazy. I locked myself in my room and was just completely unresponsive for hours and felt so nauseas I didn't want to move or even be alive. My dad would knock on my door and I couldn't even hear him, I was just so out of it. I don't think I moved at all. I think I was barely conscious, and felt like I was leaving my body sometimes. I couldn't remember who I was, or anything about my life. I just existed in this room, half conscious and terrified. We were both terrified.

They wore off and we went to sleep. It's the next morning and I feel physically and mentally like I've been hit by a truck. I'm sore in places I had no reason to be sore in, like under my tongue, and my toes. I feel emotionally battered.

I've done shrooms before, and have NEVER had a reaction like this. Could the shrooms have been toxic? Like, the wrong kind? I didn't get to see them because they were ground up and put in chocolate.

But as far as I know, shrooms shouldn't give you like, a "hang over". I've never had physical pain from shrooms the next day. I usually feel fine.

What do you guys think happened? It was only two grams. It wasn't even a very big dose. I feel poisoned. My body feels heavy and terrible. We like, went insane temporarily. Neither of us know what to think.

hmmm tbh i would guess at them maybe being the wrong type of shroom.... only because of how crap you were feeling though, i know mushys dont survive heat very well either so i guess baking them into brownies would dimish their effects greatly

BUT i could be way off.. just having an educated guess :)

well i would say maybe they are poisonous, except for the fact that you tripped major balls.

Almost sounds like they were Amanitas to me, is it possible this error was made thinking those were taken to be the same as regular shrooms?

Otherwise perhaps they got moldy and you took a lot... who knows?

Do you have any info that could clear this up like do you know what they looked like exactly before they were made into chocolates. What was the dose? Were did the mushrooms originate from?

The dose was two grams.

I'm going to talk to the person I got them from, because I have never experience anything like that.

That's a good point. Maybe they were amanitas.

EDIT: I looked at a couple trip reports of amanitas, and I think that's what they were.

i dont think 2g of amanita would do much from my experience.... unless they were poisonous amanitas!? and if your friend cant tell the difference between the poisonous amanitas and the good kind they must be stevie wonder!!
im pretty sure even poisonous mushrooms would make you feel fcuked... weather tripping or not im sure you would still feel battered!

call a doctor ASAP. i dont mean to alarm you but if you do not get medical attention ASAP you could die.

there are species of mushrooms that are lookalikes and have strange effects but weeks later can kill you from having ingested them.
ie slow release toxins. like poisoning someone with arsenic in their coffee over a period of weeks.

(edit, im kidding about the arsenic btw)

Well, about the dosage. It says if you heat them, you should lower you dose. The person who gave them to me put them in melted chocolate, so they did get heated. That could be why.

I really think that's what they were. It really sounds like it. They definitely weren't normal.

Uhm, are you serious? I can't call a doctor. My parents can't know. It would ruin my life.

So could dying.

Though it's best to establish what you actually took before we convince you you're going to die.

Well, if they were a poisonous type of Amanita, say Amanita Phalloides, etc (those with appropriately sinister monikers such as "Death Cap", "Destroying Angel", etc), then your life will not just be ruined, but terminated.

As Sega420 quite rightly points out, the toxins work slowly to destroy your liver. By the time you feel bad enough to seek medical attention, it will be too late. You may have time to make out a Last Will and Testament, but it will generally be downhill all the way.

Do some reading up on poisonous Amanitas, and hope that it wasn't any of them that you took.

E

very unlikely it was poisonous amanitas.

from what i've read, the amatoxins do not cause acute discomfort (like your toxic response), they simply cause liver failure in three days.

meaning, if you felt sick after eating them, they couldn't have been the deadly ones.

but they could have contained some other random mushroom that gave gastric distress. ask the person you got them from again.

maybe they got the dose mixed up and you each ate 20g. who knows.

was there a definite psychedelic headspace, or was it just body distress?

perhaps your own body reacted poorly to the combination of chocolate (some stimulants, MAOIs, and other bioactive chemicals) and the shrooms themselves (some people can become sensitized to the non-psychoactive compounds, like the fungal cell tissue or other enzymes).

heating in melted chocolate is NOT substantial heating, and most people who make chocolates report that they are perfectly predictable to consume.

EDIT: how did the chocolate taste? could you feel bits of shroom matter? was it bitter? how well do you trust this person? i would not rule out some shady business, like putting an RC in chocolate so you can charge mushroom prices for it.

EDIT2: a few years back, i gave some dried Ps. cyanescens to a friend who munched them a few times. i was 100% certain of the positive identity of each mushroom that she was in possession of. on the later experiences, she reported toxic-like symptoms: temporary blindness (and not just from psychedelic visual activity), limb numbness and lack of coordination, and other negative body feelings. some people simply do not react the same way, and your personal reaction can change over time as your body adjusts.

What kind of symptoms do I need to look for? Regular signs of liver failure, like jaundice and yellowing of the eyes?

I'm trying to get ahold of the dealer, and talk to people who also took them. But I don't really trust the dealer to tell me the truth anymore.

EDIT: It was definitely psychedelic, but it also felt like delerium. With psychedelics, I can tell what's real. I still don't have a clue what was real and what wasn't. I hope you're right, and they weren't toxic ones.

I trusted this person to make normal shrooms, but I don't trust her anymore. She might've been trying to make a quick buck.

The chocolate tasted fine. Like chocolate. There was no evidence of mushrooms in it. I think she must have ground it into a powder.

if you have ever ground mushroom material into a powder, you would know that it is still detectable to the teeth. if the consistency of the chocolate was imperceptible, or identical to smooth store-bought chocolate, i would be suspicious of foul play. at this point it could be anything. random 5-MeO-tryptamines, or some DOx, or even tropanes like datura (active in the 2-5 tiny seed range)

Well, I talked to her, and she says they were normal shrooms, but they looked really intense. She says everyone else liked them.

So, they probably were just really potent psilocybin mushrooms, and me and my friend just had an odd reaction. I still think the trip resembled an amanita trip more than a psilocybin trip, but meh.

I'm glad. I'm not poisoned, and the whole ordeal is behind me. I'll continue to take psychedelics, but steer clear of mushies.

Thanks for all your help guys. =)

Psychedelics can bring out some nasty physical/psychosomatic responses, and ime Shrooms is notorious for this. I've had some of the most awe inspiring and influential experiences on shrooms, but I've always had countless uncomfortable experiences which took all my will power to not let it fall to far down in a negative spiral. Not necessarily from negative thought processes, but because of the god awful body load I seem to get on them 50% of the time.

Reminds me of a tale of a girl who ate some legit locally field picked cubes, suffered Renal failure and went to ICU. Really made shrooms look completely criminal and monstrous to an entire clique of young people. Granted they were irresponsible unenlightened kids, and judging by their ignorant indulgence in regular consumption of the dangerous opiate+benzo mixes its likely that the supplier was to blame. Especially since this girl ate mushrooms many times before. Many things could be the cause here, and here's one example how.

Go pick any kind of mushroom and stick it in a closed ziplock bag.. double bag it.. wait a few days and see what happens. Its pretty rude looking.

Now imagine some redneck pill-head farmer wants to make a few bucks and sells an oz of wet cubensis to an ignorant teenager who wants to make his money back and have free shrooms to trip off of... zips em up.. and then says after a few days of trying to sell them "oh no.. whats all this sludge? Maybe I can make them into chocolates nobody will buy this otherwise!" Now what was taken was melted.. right???.. all kinds of microbes thrive in heat. For all you really know there could have been cow/horse feces on the stem still. OOr a contaminated batch that fruited toxic mushies in certain areas of the mycelium block. There's no telling what happened for sure, but if mushroom chocolate did THAT to you I suspect something was being covered up. Also don't believe whatever you're told by some girl. She could be a victim of a lie herself, or just a liar. I've heard of people on medicine take 5-MeO-AMT blotters (sold as lsd), go to the hospital and almost die, then the bozo suppliers will still swear, "nah its good this one douche told me it was cid so it is." In this world no one wants to take responsibility for someone's illness when it comes to an investment they made to make money they have no intention of refunding.

My personal advise, do some research and don't write off mushies. They were in melted chocolate and who knows how some bonehead took care of them. Also take nothing from this women again. Whether she made em or the other person she got it from made them, something was going on. lol, "intense" wet shrooms look pretty intense when the spore droppings are soaked into the cap, doesn't make the blackened shrooms "intense" Sounds like garbage you were fed buddy. Could've been a straight research chem. Sorry to hear about that none-the-less.

Hmmm... Interesting.

I'm definitely not buying anything from this person again, that's for sure.

I changed my mind. I think I will eat shrooms again sometime. But I'm not eating any shrooms that I don't see first. I've had good experiences on shrooms. This was my only bad one.

Honestly, I want to do take them again because I don't want mushrooms to beat me. I don't like being afraid of things.

But I've come to terms with this bad trip, and I'm ready to put it behind me. I'm planning an acid trip in a week or two to cover up this bad trip, and I'm just glad it's all over. I never want to go through something like that again.

If I take shrooms again, I'll be starting with a low dose and I'm going to take all the precautions so I don't get that god-awful nausea again.

sounds like amanita...

perhaps they were not prepared correctly and u got a large dose of... cant think of the name..

But i know with amanita's, your after muscimol.. They must be properly boiled before even thinking about ingesting them as the "cant think of the name" chemical will give such symptoms as which u have described in relation to the feeling sick after ingestion...

On a side note~ your friend went crazy?? BERZERKER!!! :) gotta love da vikings..

again, i HIGHLY doubt amanita. an active dose of amanita is a LARGE piece of dried mushroom, and it has a taste that even chocolate couldn't cover.

sometimes the simplest answers are the best: he had a bad reaction to legitimate mushrooms. whether it was a one-time thing or a new allergy, i wouldn't tell him to go trying that batch of chocolates again.
