Hello :)
So I'm new here I've tried searching this but I couldn't find anything specific, so I'm asking you guys.
Today my doctors fellow student following him gave me Valium for my trigger points in my shoulder. My doctor ok'd it and didn't think twice about it. I'm already taking topamax 25 mg in the am and 25 mg in pm, 15 mg phentermine in the am for weight loss (I've lost 40 pounds :) and Prilosec 25 mg as well in the am. I thought I read that topamax and Prilosec increase the life of Valium? Does anyone have experience? Is this true? I know I did Valium generally lasts a long time and its half life is really long too.

I have never taken Valium or any other benzo for that matter but now I'm wondering how this is gonna work when I do take the Valium (I'm supposed to use it as needed). Taking the topamax, and the phentermine (a mild amphetamine) and the Valium. Oh I got Valium 5 mg pills too. The fellow doctor told me all the side effects nd said try cutting it in half first but I could also take 2 at a time if I needed to.

Good advice on cutting in half, that's what I did to start off. Most 5mg tablets are scored so that you can do this.

You should be fine on the combination of drugs though, and yeah Valium has a half life up to 100hours so it is very long lasting.

Valium has a half life of up to 200 hours as a matter of fact. It builds up with repeated doses. As for taking topiramate and Valium together i wouldn't worry about it. Topamax is being used more commonly these days for certain types of epilepsy and unlike say sodium valproate it makes you loose weight instead of gaining it so that's another selling point. It is also sometimes used off label to treat bipolar disorder. Benzos especially Valium, clonazepam, lorazepam, etc are often used in conjunction with other meds in treating both of these conditions so if there where going to be any horrible drug interactions people would already know.
