OP:
We agree about electronic music. Noice.

Some shit I really liked from last year:
1. Tesseract - Altered State (truly melodic, unique djent)
2. Cloudkicker - Subsume (instrumental post-metal)
3. Comaduster - Hollow Worlds (some sort of melodic IDM/industrial that is just....fuck...)
4. Chrysalide - Don't be Scared--It's about Life (picking up the torch from Skinny Puppy, but bearing influences from Mindless Self-indulgence) (okay...this is from 2012)
5. DJ Hidden - Enclosed (kinda breakcore, kinda darkstep, kinda IDM...but kinda not)
6. Oyaarss - Bads (industrial in the original sense of the word, yet also somehow urgently contemporary...very 'organic') (also 2012)
7. Russian Circles - Memorial (post-metal how it's supposed to be done)
8. Shining - One one one (...I don't know what to call this. "Avant-hard"? They call themselves "black jazz" (in analogy with black metal)...they connect with the original spirit of hardcore-punk but with insane jazzy flourishes)
9. The Algorithm - Polymorphic Code (drill 'n' bass / breakcore (but more melodic) meets technical metal...let's call it glitch-core) (again, 2012)
10. The Ocean - Pelagial (post-metal how it's supposed to be done...I prefer the instrumental release)
