I have no scientific proof, but every single person I know who is 'hooked' on crack has 18 or fewer teeth. And the few teeth they have are disgusting.
Me thinks crack rots the hell out of teeth.

What the hell are you people talking about?...methadone causes tooth loss.....please phreeX help me out here.
when the soul dies the body follows....teeth, hair, all of these things will begin to go to shit if you spend all your money on drugs rather than housing, food, medecine, tooth paste, tooth brush, etc etc. Opiates do not cause tooth loss. nor will wasting your cocaine hcl by burning it up and smoking it.(they freebase for a reason you know).....

Um, what I'm talking about,Dr Quack is what I've seen, In my experience,y'know dont take it as gospal, BUT i have LOTS of friends on the methodone programe(like 20 at least)& one of the common bitches is that their teeth go to shit.I'm not trying to give you a scientific explanation here, just my experiences. They're not all souless fuck-ups, just junkies trying to get thier shit together.

Methadone, and ALL opiates for that matter, restricts the production of saliva which protects your teeth from plaque, which in turn leads to gum disease and tooth decay.
And, yes, lifestyle (poor diet, heavy smoking, blowing guys in back alleys, etc) contributes to bad dental hygiene and general poor health, but the FACT remains that the continuous use of any drug that causes dry mouth will eventually lead to tooth decay.

i have NEVER heard of long term OPIATE USE causing GUM DISEASE or TOOTH DECAY...i would have to see some proof(STUDIES)...
i would think that these aforementioned drugs cause one to lose their teeth thru INDIRECT MEANS, as in not eating the right foods,not taking care of teeth etc etc..
