Last Saturday we picked up some pills that definitely contain a primary amine. We tested with Robadope and the reaction was very clear. We took a few pictures with a Sony camera and transferred it to a Sony laptop and then ftp'd it here
http://www.eztest.com/gfx/buuv/
When I view the pictures on my laptop, I see very clear colors.
Salmon red and the different color for the drop of reagent next to the reaction (in the first picture). If I watch on my regular monitor, it seems brownish, the salmon red is not visible anymore.
The second picture clearly shows the kind of red that we see when a primary amine is present. On my laptop it looks great, the red is the way it is supposed to be. On my regular monitor it is sort of brown again.
I wonder what it looks like on other people screens. Do you see the typical salmon/red or does it seem brownish on your monitor ?
The files are pretty large , I thought it would be best to post the originals from the camera.
Thanx in advance

You can always do the sample at a home painting store and use their colour charts as comparison
"If your sample turns a shade of hawaiian summer sunset #34, then a primary amine is present"

Definitely a tan colour, no red to it at all in fact, on my monitor under fluorescent light.
I notice a lot of the time there can be serious colour discrepancies between Mac and PC. Is that possibly what's going on here?

SAlmon red is very obvious in picture #2, pic 1 looks like a brown puddle with a bit of salmon red "spot" in it.

We just want to make as clear as possible what it looks like WHEN it reacts. Since this was a pill we picked up in Amsterdam, where the pills are supposed to be MDMA, we were quite shocked to find a primary amine (I will know this afternoon which one).
Since this reaction was so clear, I wanted to make really good pictures of it (Thanx to Dave S. from Australia who dropped by out of the blue with all the photo/video gear !)
We also 'adjusted' the reagent again, which is the second reason we need good pictures. We have been playing around with the liquids and ratios.
It seems more sensitive now if applied correctly.
It is VERY important to keep the ratios as follows. Try to use ONLY ONE drop of bottle three and 3 from bottle two. If you accidently drop 2 drops of bottle three, you will need 6 drops from bottle 2. We have found that this ratio (with the adjusted liquids) seems to produce a pretty clear reaction if a primary amine is present.

Is this just for the robadope? Simon's seems to be pretty lenient with the dropper ratio's.
Oh and before you start saying 'you need x drops of this', you may want to look (again) at the dropper design. Its hard enough getting 1 drop out (this is with the supreme kit, I don't have a extreme kit (*cough* ;) ), most of the time you sit for ages, shake the thing about, sometimes you get 1 drop, sometimes it goes everywhere etc

the picture looks diiferent on every monitor i look at it on. some i can see the red, some i can't.
i really wish i had an Xtreme kit to play with for myself... fancy trying sending more into the void, aj?

" really wish i had an Xtreme kit to play with for myself... "
Gimme a break....
Still nothing ??
I'll contact you.

"Is this just for the robadope"
Yes, just for Robadope.
"you may want to look (again) at the dropper design"
If there are good options that we are not aware of, we'd like to know, with a URL of the manufacturer or something.

aj: if i had received anything i would have sent you an email profoundly thanking you, as usual.
also perhaps you could offer to ship the bottles without the pourer caps in them, for people to use their own droppers?

I'm still missing a replacement xtreme as well, though ewoud said some weeks ago (right when I first complained the bottles were wrong) that one had been sent...

ok, it's here now, and it's got all the right bottles this time woo! and i have a separate post to make about a reaction i got playing with it...
