Took DXM STILL FUCKED UP LONG AFTER 8 HOUR MARK

i dont understand this i took 540mg of dxm at midnight. it took for ever to hit me and it is now 10am and i am still very fucked up like im still in the middle of a trip. this is not good because if i leave my bedrooom my parents will be able to tell im way out of it. (NOT THAT ITS THAT BIG OF A DEAL because im 19, but they still would get pissed).

if this helps i take a 300mg wellbutrin XL every morning.
 
yeah ive done dxm a lot but im never this "out of it" 10 hours into the trip
 
i think the Wellbutrin XL might be interacting with the DXM. i dont know what else it could be
 
Wellbutrin (buproprion) inhibits one of the principle enzymes that metabolizes DXM (CYP2D6), so it will take your body much longer to clear the drug from your system. Also, since the enzyme is responsible for converting DXM to the more active DXO, it's likely that you'd have more unpleasant effects from high levels of DXM, and less dissociative effects due to the low levels of DXO.

wow. thats news to me. so how long do you think ill be under the influence?
 
^Depends on which of the CYP2D6 alleles you happen to be blessed with. I'm guessing your a fast-metabolizer (about 10% of Caucasians are slow-metabolizers), otherwise, you'd likely be reporting severely unpleasant effects. Still, there's no way to say exactly how long it will take to get back to baseline since it was a high dose of DXM...could be a couple hours, could be tomorrow (more likely sooner rather than later). Sorry I can't give you any better prediction than that.

Just be more careful about drug interactions in the future.

And obviously, don't take your Wellbutrin this AM or you'll likely further prolong the effects.
 
Combining DXM and wellbutrin is not a good idea.

It's only been 10 hours, you will come down. Did you fall asleep on the trip? Whenever I did that I'd wake up with a SEVERE hangover and sometimes I could barely stand up to get out of bed I'd be so dizzy and disoriented. It will pass within 12 hours or so.
 
Thank you for your answer. Yeah I didnt get any "unpleasant" effects. I did notice tho it took like an upwards of two hours for the dxm to "fully" hit me.
 
DXM doesn't have an 8 hour comedown, if you think about it. The afterglow/hangover is like being high on a different drug sometimes. The real comedown, for me, would be closer to 24 hours. That's when I'd become "sober". Before 24 hours, you'd know I was (either presently or in the past) on something.
 
My first DXM trip I was on Prozac and trazodone (?)... my trip guide asked if I was on any drugs and I said no because I was kinda embarrassed about it. It was probably the most intensely visual trip I've ever had, and it lasted a long time too. I threw up a couple times and then the next day felt like I'd been hit by a truck.

Has anyone consider dextromethorphan polistirex? As in the American product Delsym? It always take a long time to come up and is advertised as lasting 12 hours.

Not a good idea... I got so sick from that shit and tripped for at least 14 hours and was dead tired for two days. Its an edible plastic that causes the DXM to be a "time-release" formula...
 
i'm not exactly sure on my dosage amt, but i drank a third of a bottle of generic brand cough syrup with my bf and a friend and did some k along with that. the next weekend i took 30mg 2ci, my bf took 60 and our friend took 30. we all felt like the trip was "clouded" by the drank... bodies felt lethargic and 2ci body load was at least double our usual. also, the visuals were more fuzzy than usual... due to my anxious nature it really freaked me out at first, but my bf talked me down and reminded me that it was just the drugs and there was nothing wrong with me. then another of our friends, who hadn't dranked with us and was on about 20mg 2ci, smashed a watermelon on the floor of his kitchen and significantly changed the mood of the trip for the better... the drankiness didn't go away until the end of the trip but at least i could enjoy myself. this was a few months ago and i haven't noticed any lasting effects in any trips since. ;)
