Too young to trip?

Hello Bluelight,
I'm 18 and have become interested in DMT, and more immediately, LSA.
My only concern is that psychedelics will have adverse effects on my growing brain.
I don't plan on making a habit out of either by any means.
When did you guys start tripping? Are my concerns legitimate?

You're concerned about the wrong things. Your brain is fine -- worry about your mind.

Just wanted to say that's prolly the best answer i ever heard...lol

But i started tripping at 16 on high doses on DXM.. and i did so for years.. now that really fucks your mind up trust me..
but i doubt if you keep your usage low that you see many bad side effects...
just take long breaks into between your trips..

I also have to say that atara is correct.

If I were you, I would base my decision on my own psychological and emotional maturity, the amount and quality of research I had done, and my reasons for wanting to trip, as well as my current psycho-emotional situation.

If you are worried about your brain, I think it is safe to say that you haven't done enough research.

I first tripped right around my 17th birthday. I was fine, and had a great time, but I would say that I got more out of it once I was a bit older.

Still, there is nothing wrong (IMO) with having a good time with friends, laughing, and getting familiar with inner space.

Do you have any mental issues or disorders? (depression, anxiety, etc)

I know kids who are sophmores and juniors in highschool who trip frequently. They have straight A's. (well A's and B's for a few haha.) Still, my point is, just know your own mind.

For example: They might be able to handle their trips better than someone who's 40 years old, or someone 21 years old, or whatever.

I first tripped at 13 with no known negative repercussions, though I didn't trip again until sophomore or junior year in high school. I first started tripping somewhat frequently first semester senior year. It's all based on if your mind is able to handle it yet

At 18, assuming you feel ready to trip, i'd say your old enough.

When i saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be another 14-year-old asking if they're old enough to trip...

Read The Big & Dandy Psychedelics and Age Thread. :)

I started when I was 18 and that seemed fine to me. Around that age of adolescence when you got the basics down of who you are but now start wondering what your place is in life, in the world, in your social environment, etc etc that is basically when I would say it is the time to start tripping.
High school is usually too early if you ask me, too much of a pubescent sheep herd mentality. That's fine, you need that to get a substituted feeling of personal safety about your identity. But around the time you graduate from high school should also be around the time you can start thinking for yourself.

No you're not too young I started doing psychs at 16 and so did lots of other people I knew.

There's no "right" or "correct" age to first using psychedelics.

I met a guy who took LSD at 10 or 12 and that's very very young but it worked well for him.

The best time to start varies from person to person. Some can start when their 16 and be fine and others shouldn't ever touch psychedelics. My advice is make sure you do all your research before trying a new drug and be responsible. Psychedelics can be incredible tools for self-development if used properly, "if" being the key word.

na, youre 18 man, youre an adult and will be fine. i had my first few trips at age 17 (mushrooms and LSD) and started tripping often at 18.
