Sp i want to know what people think on this subject. what age do you think its ok to be an everyday smoker at? it has been brought to my attention that some poeple might think that i am to young to smoke. i am a junior in high school and just turned seventeen. i have a job and get good grades in school and dont smoke ciggarttes. is there something wrong with smoking everyday in this situation if you can still balance out your life? i just want to know what people think about this and i dont want people to come in here and flame. simple discussion people :)

So your a highschool pothead.. I don't see anything wrong with that at Jr. year as long as you have your priorities in check. I did it :)

i wouldn't say you're too young to smoke, but i would be very careful about how much of a priority you make pot out to be. i had a lot of fun in hs (and college), but i also missed out on a lot of opportunities that i'll never have again because i was so focused on getting stoned.

lol, if you are mature enough to ask that question than you are old enough to smoke weed

I don't know anyone who smoked weed every day when they were a teenager who doesn't regret it.

It slows down your thinking (influencing your grades at school), can make you less social, can mean that instead of out partying you are inside smoking weed, and will also mean your tolerance goes up and weed won't be as fun.

Smoking weed every day is a bad idea regardless of your age, but when you're young especially.

I would say 16 is a good average age some can handle it earlier but I think that more people can't. And it depends on what type of everyday smoker they are, there are those that smoke everyday but pay attention to friends, family, work, and school and there are those that just smoke all day and dont pay much attention to one or more things on the previous list, I fall in between these 2 leaning towards the first one.

I started at 16, which seems to be the age where most people begin around here, I remember when I was 16-17 and was attending our version of college... good times... =D

There is a small risk of developing an addiction, however an addiction won't mess your life up as much as with other drugs like Cocaine or Heroin. I was one of the few that got addicted for a long time though, I've spent 5 years of my life smoking weed every day and didn't care about school anymore etc. I also spent a lot of money on weed in those five years, around €15.000. 8o Some people have an addictive personality I guess (like myself). However due to the fact that weed is legal to buy here I never came into contact with 'harder' drugs, so the stepping stone theory is pure BS IMHO. :p

THC binds at several points in your brain and mimics a neurotransmitter called Anandamide, it also indirectly increases the release of Dopamine by interfering with the release of GABA neurotransmitters which normally inhibit an excessive release of Dopamine. This allows more Dopamine to be released.

Smoking weed can adversely effect your short-term memory and your coordination, however these effects are not permanent and the destruction of brain cells has not been proven in the case of Cannabis.

If you want a (very) detailed explanation about how Cannabis works or want some basic information about neurochemistry I will post it. If its good, it could be stickied perhaps? ;) LOL haha... nah seriously I have some very detailed information about Cannabis which I would like to share with everyone who smokes, I could create a FAQ even if there is interest. :)

Peace o/

i started smoking when i was 16, went strait to every day almost immediately. be smart about when you smoke, and you should be fine. i never went to calculus high, i went to pottery high, or waited until after school. i also made extra sure i did all my homework. i was able to continue my a average through graduation, and know many other people who have.

i wouldn't say there's anything wrong with it, so long as you keep being smart

I was 17 so your not to young. Just remember everything in moderation but enjoy have fun

yo ur more than ok i started blazeing up when i was in 8th grade pure blunt at dat age can fuk wit ur head alil, after that in grade 9 started raveing dats when things got fucked. But if u have dat balance u can do i cudn't balance and it fucked me over. If u feel ur balance tipping jsut stop cuz its not worth it

I think the main danger is that you are really setting up habits and rituals that you will tend to follow for the rest of your life. This is my opinion and I don't have any studies to back this up. If you get into a habit of smoking a lot then when and why would it ever stop? It's just too easy to keep doing it, it's a learned habit. I would say concentrate on being in HS, getting good grades, developing social skills that don't revolve around drugs and the culture that comes with it.

tl;dr Concentrate on setting good social, and professional i.e. school/job, habits now and then add the weed later as it won't be part of a routine and it will be easier for you to take it or leave it which will be good for your mind, wallet and relationships.

I started smoking in 8th grade. I'm now in college. Never had a problem. It's all up the individual.

The reason why people said you were to young was because how retarded you sounded in the thread you made the other day.

Its not age that matters so much but more of a level of maturity. Do you have your priorities straight? You say that you have a job and get good grades so that's definitely a good sign. However, will it continue to be like that as time goes on?
You also have to consider where you're going or want to go. Becoming complacent with good grades and a high school job won't get you far in life you need to have something you're working for.
But that's just my opinion, just be happy.

i wouldn't say you're too young to smoke, but i would be very careful about how much of a priority you make pot out to be. i had a lot of fun in hs (and college), but i also missed out on a lot of opportunities that i'll never have again because i was so focused on getting stoned.

I am currently a Junior in college and I completely agree. I started smoking around the same time (sophomore year in hs) but I didn't start smoking every day until the summer of Junior year.

I have had a great time and got into a great college but there are a lot of things I feel I have missed out on throughout those 4 years where I have been smoking non stop. I will say though I have had a great time chillin with my core group of friends (also stoners) but you really need to be careful to some degree and balance your smoking out.

Anyways thats just my opinion.

I used it once a week, my junior year of H.S. and got a 3.5 GPA, in honors and advanced classes. I did not smoke before or during school or when I studied or did homework. I never used more than once a week though so I don't know what my performance would be if it was daily use.

yeah i have made the mistake of letting weed take priority over my school, im almost 17 and i have been a pot smoker for around 2 years now and have been smoking everyday for around 2 months, ive realised now that i need to re-prioritize. weed isnt as fun as it used to be and now i get paranoid :( i want the fun back!
