Too much Clonazepam?

Hi all,

Brand new to the forum; found some interesting info on Clonazepam re: overdoses, snorting, etc., but my question was more specific and I'm hoping for some advice.

I was prescribed some Clonazepam about a year ago b/c I had been taking Adderall at prescribed levels but had stopped eating or sleeping. A few days in I had a sort of "break-down" and was give 1 or 2 mg of clonazepam and sent to bed.

All was well.

Yesterday, I realized how foggy and OCD I was becoming on not much sleep+very little food+ prescribed Adderall (about 20-40 MG/4 hours, but for several long sessions).

SOOOO....I thought I should try the Clonazepam again, which my doc had said would counteract the effects of the adderall should I take too much (she called it an antipsychotic I think..though I've NEVER been psychotic in my life, just a little manic I think).

SOOO I took FIVE 1mg tablets (I liked that I was finally getting sleepy for once)...I crash in bed and sleep a good 20 hours. I wake up feeling pretty good but...

The problem is that I still feel woozy and disoriented today. Since I've read about some Clonazepam regimens and/or overdoses causing LONG-TERM cognitive problems, I got worried.

So the question is: should I be worried? Will these symptoms go away, and if so, how soon? Or instead have I permanently fucked myself up?

THANKS for any help!!

Bill

You should be fine after a few days, it is most likely the half life of the clonazepam that has caused this and it should clear itself up pretty soon.

I have had similar experiences after taking too many benzos and feeling the effects for a few days after.

^ Exactly what Mugz said...Clonazepam is one of the benzodiazepines with a longer half life, so it basically just hangs around in your body for a while. 5mg isn't an overdose, although its a larger dose for someone who doesn't take them regularly, and it won't kill you on it's own. The symptoms will go away, and I severely doubt you did any permanent damage to your brain.

yup. like the two posts above say, you did not cause some permenant damage with 5mg.

but that is a lot. why take that much? as you've found out, it might make you groggy the next day. i would see if a smaller dose wont work for yea. this will help you in both the long and short run.

Guys thanks SO MUCH for the help/reassurance! Sucks it might last a few days, FTW it won't last forever!
