Benzos Tolerence.....how long ya rekon?

bump :P, sorry for bumping, but feel like loads of people gave me great answers, but not what I was looking for. If you read my post 2 posts up .............has anyone got any suggestions?

Do not replace diazepam with alcohol. You'd be setting yourself up for addiction.

After two weeks withdrawal would be minimal. Taper down if you want to go off it, under doctor supervision.

Its not that I really want to stop......its just im not sure whats the reality time length....people say 2-4 weeks shud be max......but lets face it most people seem to be on them for longer........I don't want to be on them for over 2 months .....while citalopram kicks in etc etc. but just wonderd if this would cause a massive tolerance oincrease....like in 2 months will I be begging for 40 mg a day.,... lol...from what I have been reading the majority of people decide theyw ant to come off them between 2-6 years if not longer........and it makes me feel better as I feel in a good position to just being on them 2 weeks. I know people say that after years of being on them their hell.........but to be fair in the first months/years people must have enjoyed taking them either for relieve of bad anxiety or recreational. Itherwise you would take them for a week and come off.........This is why I don't get all the 'Benzo's are hells drug' threads...........because at some point , they either wanted to abuse them and enjoyed it or needed and felt better usuing them for medical reasons. The only reasons I can see anyone saying benzo's are hell drug, is when you have made them that and not used them responsibly........hope that don't sound harsh.

Two months won't yield significant tolerance. And in case you're wondering, tolerance to the anxiolytic effect develops only a bit. You may have to raise your dose, but it shouldn't be by much.

You're right on the money brother. If you abuse them they'll abuse thou, if you're taking them honestly under doctors orders and aren't taking more than you need they're one of if not the best class of medications out there for irrational obsessions (anxiety, panic, ocd) and intrusive thoughts.
