Ok so Valium works good for anxiety, and at the same time it gives me a little sedative high. Say if i take 10mg everyday for a month or more, i would definitely grow a tolerance to the high, but i was wondering if there is also a tolerance to the anxiety relief. after a month of 10mg daily, would i still be getting the anxiety relief or would i have to increase dosage for that as well.

my doctor claims that the anti anxiety effects will stay the same and it's just the high/buzz/feel good that you're after, leading to them thinking you are abusing or seeking drugs.. back in the day when i was on valium 30mg/day i asked to raise my dose and he took me off it :\ not what i was expecting lol.. but i believe myself that you need to raise your dose to raise anti anxiety effects with tolerance.. but doctors will tell you different.

I believe there's tolerance to the anxiety relief too, but at a much lower speed.

If you are taking a benzo for anxiety relief that it is wise to NOT get high off of benzos. If you get high off of them your tolerance will most likely boom and well, I know people who now take 8mg of Xanax just to feel normal :( Pick another DoC if you may, psychedelics (depending on type of anxiety) are real useful to some.

yea well it depends on the kind of anxiety. Psychedelics are amazing for stress relief, but uh, if your going to have a panic attack because you just saw your friend jump into a portal, then no.

if you're really using your benzos for anxiety relief then use them as prescribed...no point in chasing a high that just really isn't there. don't get me wrong taking 2 sticks as opposed to taking a half is a big difference and will get you high..but from that point on you will never satisfy that high you seek because now your receptors and tolerance is "set" at 4mg. I am currently on 2mg clonazepam a day, last month I was on only 1 mg but I've used benzos without a script for almost a year so I have a naturally high tolerance. main reason I asked for the increase was because I knew I was going to be in opiate withdrawal (300 mg a day oxycodone IV) but he's also my suboxone doctor and is a cool guy so he didn't really mind upping the dose. You just gotta be honest with your doctor without looking like a drug-seeker. don't say "oh I want 20 or 30 mg a day," you gotta phrase it correctly like "you know after this month I could definitely feel my tolerance rising because I found that this one dose wasn't as effective as in the beginning." and then he almost has to do it bcuz that's a perfect reason and it's well documented that after 4-6 weeks tolerance does develop to benzos.

alright thanks, i got another question i was wondering about. Would increasing dose, relief anxiety more, or is there a certain point where its useless to take more, and i know that the bigger dose the more "high" you get, but how bout for the anxiety releif?

How you get used to Valium at 10mg's, you will get used to it at 15mg's, and 20mg's, and there starts the vicious cycle of addiction. If you're smart you'll stay where you are and find other ways to deal with the extra anxiety.

I;m on eof those peeps... it happens REALLY quckly... like within a week or two at the VERY most

^^^yeah ive been using benzos for years (with and without scripts, in the past couple years with scripts since i've always had legitimate anxiety issues) and i still find anxiety relief even though i have a tolerance and don't get a "high" from them anymore

so if you build a really high tolerance, (say around 50-100mg to "feel it").
Will it ever be possible to lower that tolerance so that you could get high off low doses such as 5 or 10 mg?. I am curious about this because i wanna take a break my self so that i only need a small dose to get high like 5-10mg

if you're tolerance is 50 to 100 mg of Valium then it isn't really safe to just take a break if you've been on them for a while bcuz then you are at risk for a seizure. slowly taper down and then try to skip a day or two in between and if done properly you can lower your tolerance to 10 mg in maybe one month at the very least...more likely two months. but be careful man high doses of benzos to just nothing can pose serious health risks.

^ I woundn't say psychedelics are good for anxiety...

I would, you just need to not use huge doses. Psychedelics often induce anxiety, but if you can live through a panic attack/anxiety in a very intense psychedelic trip, you'll learn that you're strong enough to live through regular life's anxiety/panic, and it will seem much less intense by comparison.

Psychedelics aren't for everyone, and not everyone enjoys them.

The reason why they are advisable over a benzodiazepine habit, is because most psychedelics are by far less addictive, even if you use them frequently.

i think people should keep in mind that anxiety relief can occur without getting a buzz

Great point. 0.5mg of lorazepam is barely any effect in terms of getting a buzz, but it can relieve anxiety to a good degree.

Im prescribed about 2 mg's of klonopin a day for anxiety (and also 30 mg's of temazepam nightly for insomnia) and about a week and a half after I started these meds, I noticed they did practically nothing for me anymore(especially as far as getting a small "high" off them)...but also the anxiety fighting effects were reduced as well. So in my case, I believe I should increase my dosage of klonopin to help with my anxiety again, only because im on such low doses. If I were prescribed like 4 mg's of xanax a day or more, I woudlnt reccommend increasing my dose because all that does is increase your tolerance to an unneccesary level. If your not finding anxiety helping effects at about 30-50 mg's of valium, 4mg's of xanax, or about 4 -5 mg's of klonopin....than you should seek other ways of helping your anxiety. There are too many negative risks of constantly increasing your benzo dosage and staying on a high dose of benzos for a long period of time. Try meditation, intense counseling, or just maybe even a hobby to distract your mind.

But i cant tell you whats best for you and in the end your gonna have to decide what to do, just be carefull with taking so many benzo's for such a long period of time.
