Everytime I adjust my vyvanse dose, It works for a few days. Then it just kind of stops working. Today I took 40mg and I felt stimulation for about 1 hour before my concentration went away. I'm afraid I have permatolerance. In the past I would take 40mg and then bits of half a 20mg throughout the day. I'm not sure what to do but I just can't feel the drugs anymore. I am also on pristiq and mirtazipine. I am desperate for some adhd treatment.

I couldn’t remember for sure so I found another thread just to be safe -

But I used to buy this girls whole script back when vyvanse first came out(or when I first heard of it anyway) for a few months because I’d take my whole adderall script and be out for 10+ days. Turned out it was very weak in comparison and while I couldn’t remember exactly how weak I’m guessing I was taking doses far larger than the OP of the posted thread was. I was prescribed XR 30s and was taking anywhere between 30-120mg a day.

According to the 2nd mod who posted in there 30mg vyvanse is equivalent to 10mg of dexamphetamine, so your 40mg is roughly the same as 13mg of adderall which isn’t really jack shit. Not saying to base my old tolerance for your dose but unless I misunderstood 120mg of adderall would be 360mg of vyvanse, I don’t think I ever doses that high on the vyvanse as I remember having shitty side effects the higher I went(far more jittery while less stimulating, maybe even dysphoric if too high of a dose iirc). If you’re prescribed I’d talk to your doc about upping your dose or switching meds. If you obtain by other means then up your dose with caution in mind.

Not recommending that you do, but in my (non-medical, non-professional) opinion and experience, a good amount higher than the dose you’re now taking isn't going to pose much, if any more of a risk than your current dose given you don’t have any underlying cardio issues, healthy BP and heart rate, etc. But you really don’t want to go very high either as it gets unpleasant, more so than high dose adderall or meth(if I’m remembering correctly) at what was hardly a therapeutic dose for me. If you are dosing yourself with an Illegitimate script, I’d bring the dose up a little and ride it out to see if it’s more effective before jumping higher. The more I think about the dose conversion I put above the more it doesn’t sound right so please don’t go ahead and think taking 360mg of vyvanse is ok cause that’s not where I’m going with it lol. I was taking big ass doses of adderall though and vyvanse sucked so 3x very well could be right.

I haven’t done the drug in years because I found it to be shit, but until somebody with more experience/knowledge comes along keep your dose upping to a minimum. Or make an appointment to talk to your doctor because I definitely would be if the bastard put me on 40mg of vyvanse.

Did you take the 'booster' doses throughout the day because you were having focus issues or because you wanted to 'feel something more'?

Most of the friends and family I know who are scripted Vyvanse for ADHD say that it retains its efficacy pretty well over time if you strictly take it as prescribed. If you're finding that the current dosage is not working therapeutically, it's definitely worth discussing it with your prescribing doctor. For folks who are relying on Vyvanse for ADHD, it's important to find the correct amount and to just stick with it.

I'm not saying you're using it irresponsibly, OP. I don't know your circumstances and this is not something I have experienced firsthand. It just seems like a bad situation (i.e. losing the assistance of a needed medication) to be in and trying to modulate the dose yourself could make it worse. Be safe and good luck with it.

At peak usage I was taking 40mg in the morning and bits of the powder throughout the day. In total my usage would be well under 70mg, with 70mg being the peak dosage.
