Tolerance from poppy seed tea.

Just had my first batch. Made me feel really god for anout an hour or so. I have a "relatively" high opiate tolerance when I go on binges. Like I would happily do 400mg codeine.

But tolerance to codeine raies very quickly. Is this true for poppy seed tea as well? Would I just have to make a bigger batch?

PS: What temperature of water is best used when making it?

I ask because I feel like making a stronger batch in a couple of hours

^you don't want water warmer than room temp for seeds. If you use warm or hot water, you will get nasty plant starches and sugars in your tea and it will taste like shit. It also gets a really oily consistency with warm/hot water.

hey placidly. just shake up some seeds. it dont' make a fuck what temperature they are. add water, shake, squeeze, drink. thats it

edit: i am the poppy seed tea authority. if you want to be a junkie trust me

ive read all your poppy posts. Did 400gms, felt ok, happy but not like codeine.

Did it exactly like you? Did you refilter?

Should I did it more, to get used to it?

Only felt it for like an hour?

Should I use more?

Tolerance with pod or seed tea rises fast, much faster then with pharms.

How much seed did you use? Not that it matters much with potency being all over the map but I'd say even with strong seed you'd need half pound to one pound with 400mg codeine tolerance.

Don't use hot water, use warm or cold. Theoretically cold water would be best, but I find warm water easier to drink, cold water really emphasizes the bitter taste.

the seeds arent that good switch to pods. u get a opiate buzz but it takes me several pounds of seeds to feel much for me. such a hassle to process all the fuking seeds and they get everywhere.

pods on the other hand are always consistent and they get me way higher then seeds.

to bad they so expensive. i think seeds are ok for withdrawl though.

im trying to save money imho. I'll try a few more times til I get the right dose, be it 300gm or 2000gms ;)

Yes it does matter. Ok, you've been using seeds how long, maybe 6 months and you're the expert?? When was the last time you actually measured what you extracted? Warm water makes it taste way worse than it has to, it pulls out plant sugars and oils. You can drink whatever you want and make it however you wantbut don't write stuff that isn't true.

BTW, a cold water, 2 hour extraction gives the highest yield from seeds. I've tested cold to warm to hot and varied the timing out to 36 hours. I'm also talking about measured levels, this isn't what I felt or thought after I drank it.

When I said warm water I was talking maybe 98F, I guess its a matter of taste but I find it easier to chug the wash warm rather then cold as that seems to make the bitterness stand out more. Potency seems to be the same but I can't prove it as I don't have easy access to lab equipment.

But 2 hours? Aren't you losing a lot of alkaloids when the seeds absorb water?
40 minutes to an hour in water and the seeds seem to swell almost double in size as they absorb water, and I would think some of the alkaloids get absorbed too.

Try 3 years. Do NOT let the seeds sit for 2 hours, the seeds will soak up the water. They MIGHT soak up some morphine. Why risk it? I've tried it both ways and always wind up with LESS tea when i've let them soak. If you want to wait 2 hours for your buzz, and you want to risk losing some morphine, go for it. But soaking does NOT increase the yield. Oh and don't tell what I can and can't write based solely on your opinion.

Morphine is VERY water soluble, it only takes about 30 seconds of shaking to get most of the morphine off of the seeds. If you have REALLY potent seeds (if 400 grams will get you high as fuck) they are worth a re-wash. Temperature does NOT matter in my experience (unless you are using boiling water, don't do that, it can kill alkoloids so i've heard), use regular tap water from the cold spigot. If you want to potentiate your buzz, use cimetidine.

Yes, I AM the authority on the matter, I've been doing PST for 3 years, I've learned from trial and error, I've made PST in every way imaginable. I've let them soak for hours. I've shaken the bottle for 30 minutes non stop (switching hands every minute, damn its a hard way to make tea). I've stirred the tea as opposed to shaking. I've put seeds in a blender (very messy, don't do this). I've used a mixing bowl. I've even made tea by boiling the damn things (which doesn't work). Yes I'm an addict and I'm not proud of it, but it doesn't change the fact that i know what i'm talking about.

EDIT:

I've prepared some detailed instructions. If anyone wants to make tea, trust my experience on this.

THIS IS THE WAY TO MAKE POPPY SEED TEA.

1. Acquire some poppy seeds. Depending on the potency of the seeds, the amount will vary. If they are strong, use about a pound. At the most and with low tolerance, it has taken 4 pounds of the weakest seeds I've ever found to get me good and high. With other seeds, no amount will get you high as some are completely bunk. It's hit or miss with poppy seeds.

2. This is optional... take one Tagamet (cimetidine) pill before making the tea. This will potentiate the effects. I have found that the potency of pods and tea can be increased by as much as about 25% so in my opinion, it's worth it.

3. Add the seeds with a funnel to a 2 liter plastic bottle, something flexible that you can squeeze. I use an empty fruit juice bottle.

4. Add water to the seeds. I just use tap water from the cold spigot. Some people say that using hot water (not boiling) will aid in morphine extraction, but I never noticed a difference. Do not use juice to wash your seeds. I've tried it both ways and when tea is made with juice it produces a weaker tea. Don't ask me why but trust me on this. Let the water settle until the seeds are completely soaked and none are floating around. Continue to add water until there is about an inch above the seeds. Be careful not to fill the bottle completely with seeds as it will be very hard to shake and you won't be guaranteed a good wash. I usually leave about 3 inches of empty space at the top of the bottle.

5. Screw the cap on tightly and shake the seeds vigorously for 30 seconds to one minute. There is no need to let the seeds soak. I have tried it and didn't notice any increase in quality. Also, in my experienced opinion, this could be detrimental as the seeds absorb water if allowed to soak. Since morphine is imminently water soluble, they might also be absorbing some of your morphine so why risk that?

6. Immediately after shaking, unscrew the cap slightly. Squeeze the tea into a tall glass or tumbler (you need a tall container if you are using 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of seeds, as this requires a lot of water). Continue to squeeze until you start getting only bubbles, then hold the jug still and let the liquid settle some more. Squeeze again until there is no more liquid, only bubbles. A note of caution - before you start squeezing, make sure the cap isn't too loose as it can pop off while squeezing and you'll wind up with seeds spilling into your tea and you'll have to put it all back into the plastic jug and start over. Messy.

6. Drink (see warning below).

7. Optional... if the seeds are very strong, you can wash them again for another dose. With good seeds the second wash is usually about 25 - 30% as strong as the initial dose, which makes it worth the second extraction, in my opinion.

Note about potency: If the tea is a medium brown color and has a noticeably bitter taste, it is good. I used to judge tea potency on color alone, but recently some seeds produce a VERY dark tea but are almost completely bunk. I can only reason that the seeds have gone through some process to destroy the alkaloids, such as heat treating, because color used to be a definite indicator of potency. Also, potent tea induces a strong gag reflex with me and I can't chug more than about 5 swallows before I have to take a break. In my experience, if the tea is a very light color (or VERY dark brown in some recent cases), has no bitter taste, and if I am able to chug it like water with zero gag reflex, then the seeds are bunk.

WARNING. If this is your first time making tea, to be safe, drink the tea over the course of a couple of hours so you don't get sick or overdose. It is possible to OD on poppy seed tea, although I've never encountered seeds that were strong enough for one batch of really potent seeds to do more than make me queasy when chugged all at once, and this kind of ruins your high. If you want test the potency before buying a large batch, make a 'test' batch of about 3 grams. If the tea is a medium brown color and is bitter, they seeds are probably good.

You WILL get addicted if you use poppy seed tea over a prolonged period.

That's a good write up, and good info...

The issue of temperature is one which I will have to argue, as it seems that hotter water would be much better for extraction than cool or cold water. Codeine's solubility in water is enhanced with colder temperatures, while morphine's solubility in water is enhanced with hotter temperatures. Therefore, hot water would probably be a better choice...though it might make it disgusting to drink. Just hot water, not close to boiling would probably be better for extracting a higher morphine:codeine ratio, and I doubt would be hot enough to cause any denaturation.

i've used hot water (tap water that is hot to touch, but not painful) to wash seeds and didn't notice any increase in potency. seeds can vary a lot from batch to batch though so its possible that the seed potency was increased from hot water, but i didn't notice compared to previous cold water batches. however, i don't think it hurts the seeds to wash them in hot water and if it has a chance of increasing the potency, go for it. whatever floats your boat

But you have never MEASURED the results, you're talking about what you think after you drink it. I'm talking about actually quantitative what is being extracted. Yes, if you use warm water for 2 hours, you will absorb a lot into the seeds, which is why cool water works better. I really don't care how you make it, but i do care that you write like you are some kind of authority, you are giving an opinion- I am talking about quantitative results. People can take whatever they like from that, again i don't care.

measuring what results? the amount of tea, in ounces, that i get out of a single batch? potency? its pointless to try to measure pst in either strength or amount unless 1. you have consistently potent seeds that you are SURE have exactly the same content of alkaloids in a specific amount, or 2. you have access to a lab, or chemists tools, or whatever, and can isolate the alkaloids into a measurable form. i'm not a chemist, i don't have a lab, when i make poppy seed tea i drink it straight from the cup. each batch differs so you are not going to get consistent results if you try to 'measure' poppy seed tea, whatever it is you mean by that. what are your 'quantitative results' btw?

i do have a simple way of 'measuring' though, it probably wouldn't work for anybody else but since you seem to be preoccupied with 'measuring' i'll tell you. the way i 'measure' poppy seed tea is like this. for every pound of seeds, i turn on my tap full blast for 4 seconds. this is exactly enough water to make one batch of seeds, weighing 1 pound. i 'measure' the amount of tea by judging how full my tumbler is (7 inches high by 3 inches across) and its usually 2/3 full. i 'measure' the potency by the color of the tea and the bitter taste. forgive me for not inventing some kind of scale. i can whip up a color bar in photoshop if you like, with different shades of brown labeled 'bunk', 'weak', 'ok', 'good', and 'will seriously fuck you up'. or a bitterness scale, with 1 being 'water' and 5 being 'will peel chrome off of a trailer hitch'. will that help?

either take my advice or don't. i'm speaking from a LOT of experience. and i AM an authority on the matter, 3 years of experience, doing pst almost EVERY DAY, makes me one. if you have a problem with that, sorry boutcha.

edit: btw, i really do wish i was not in the position to brag about my extensive knowledge on this niche topic. being high out of your gourd is a blast, but being addicted to opiates is NOT FUN. if i could take it all back i'd have never touched that first pain pill.

I know how you feel, I've been partaking in this little gem since mid 2004, that's about 3 years for me too. It is a real bitch sometimes...well most times. I have been throw terrible withdrawls because of it, I consider PST no better (or worse) than OC or pods. I've cut back recently, but it's still a multiple times a week thing for me.

So just a warning to anyone interested, listen to what malfunkshun is saying. It seems so harmless and benign, until you realize that you start to get sick if you don't drink any for a day. Goddamnit.

Anyway, I have a few questions for you malfunkshun, or anyone else knowledgeble. I've been worrying about side effects of PST. The tea made from those seeds is full of other compounds. From opiate alkaloids to plant and oil matter to dust and possibly pesticides. As much as I love drinking that brownish yellow liquid, I hate to think about what else is in the tea. Do you have any insight or information? I worry about toxins that could be damaging to the kidneys or liver. Just ingesting that much dust which must coat the seeds while they sit before being packaged or while they are being shipped seems like it could be bad. I don't know, I may just be paranoid, but I was wondering if anyone else had thought of this.

Also, have any of you noticed a lot of vendors washing their seeds so they are no good? I've heard it happening a lot, and I've noticed it as well. Seeds are no longer dark blue/black, but are instead a light blue/grey and no matter how many you use, they are worthless.

Well, poppy seeds are sold for the purpose of human consumption...so therefore, they do have to meet certain regulations when it comes to toxins being present, unlike something like pods which are sold as decorations. Still, all foods are allowed to have a certain miniscule amount of toxins...by volume. When you start taking in huge quantities of that food, the amount of toxins isn't so miniscule anymore. Like fish aren't supposed to be eaten more than a couple times per week because of mercury, and with any food that wil inevitably have small amounts of bad stuff in there.

So yea, drinking down pounds of poppy seed material each week (or each day as some people here seem to do), could definitely have some negative effects on your long term health.

btw, I love Dr. Strangelove, it's a classic...

What you have to remember is poppy seeds are sold for human consumption, while its possible for them to have some pesticide traces its probably comparable to everything else. Rice and lentils probably have the same amount of trace pesticides and many people around the world consume large amounts daily.

Meat and dairy and eggs are worse then plant products since animals concentrate pesticide from their feed.

What I'm saying is I don't know why you'd be overly concerned with PS being contaminated if you're not worried about the rest of the stuff you consume.

I doubt any vendors wash their seed, the seed never had residue to start with.

PST is just as addictive as pod tea, and more addictive then pharmaceuticals.
With pod or seeds you are getting the full compliment of alkaloids and you are literally addicted to all of them.
