Does the threshhold for neurotoxicity increase with tolerance? i.e will it take a higher and higher dose to cause damage to the brain if the user has a high tolerance? That's what common sense leads me to believe. SWIM is curious as SWIM don't know much about it and SWIM did quite a bit last night.

SWIM has a moderate tolerance to begin with. SWIM usually start with a 200mg parachute and then top it off with another 100mg an hour or so later. SWIM had taken a long break from MDMA because SWIM was on an SSRI, but recently quit. SWIM started off with a 300mg parachute, usually enough to really blow me away, but SWIM didn't feel all that much. It was stimulating but nothing close to what SWIM was used to. Throughout the night SWIM consumed just over 1 gram. SWIM never felt out of control in the slightest. SWIM rolled plenty hard before where SWIM's eyes were rolling in the back of his head and SWIM couldn't remember what happened 15 seconds ago. This was nowhere near as intense and the dose was much much higher. The only side effects were anxiety, nausea, insomnia, and tight chest (due to anxiety). SWIM feels pretty shitty right now but it's to be expected. If SWIM had consumed this much and rolled like he used to he probably would have had a heart attack or died of heat stroke. Regardless of potency, it was stupid of SWIM to consume such a large amount in one night. SWIM believes he either got weak MDMA or the SSRIs somehow interfered (even though I've been off them for 3 weeks). What do you think?

Eh... if your tolerance is causing your brain to release less dopamine, then MAYBE, but... if you have a tolerance to MDMA then your serotonin system is probably still in recovery from your last dose/doses, making it MORE vulnerable to damage. "Common sense" sort of breaks down when you get to the molecular level.

YUP. What SSRI were you taking? They can take weeks to clear from your system, and it may be a matter of months before you can roll again.

SWIM thanks you for the encouraging words but he slept it off, took some vitamines, excercised, had a good meal and feels fine now. SWIM is grateful he didn't make this mistake with potent MDMA and was able to learned an all too valuable lesson in self control before something bad happened.
