Today I Am Thankful For... Ver. 3: Earth, Wind and Fire!

I am thankful because I have the best friend a man could hope to have. He has always been there for me through thick & thin, good & bad for 20 years now.
I intend this year to make sure I let him know how much I think of him as a great friend.
 
2 weeks is great Captain H. the early days are the hardest so you are doing brilliantly.
I am thankful for the family and friends that I have.
 
Today I'm thankful for my wonderful children, I am truly privileged to be part of their lives
 
I have my folks to deal with later so I'm hoping that goes OK, my father's dementia is not easy to deal with and he has become very agitated particularly with my mother which is hard, I never had much of a relationship with him but really feel I need to try and help him now, even after all the things that have happened between us in the past I've come to realise just how much I love him.
 
Well I hope all goes as well as possible with your dad mate.
I am the same my dad used to beat me and my mum on a regular basis when I lived at home and for years I dreamed of killing him while he slept.
But even after all that, now that he is an old man I find it hard to hold against him as he is my dad & I will never have another one.
Hatred of him would only damage me not him.
Hope you have the day you want it to be.
 
So true, I don't hold any malice for him, I used to and it was just poison in my mind.

I try and ensure that I don't make the mistakes he did, I tell my kids I love them everyday and show them affection, I have him to thank for that in a way.
 
I'm thankful for my family as well. I am thankful for a warm home, nourishment, my clothing, and most importantly the beautiful family that has accepted me as their own. I have a girlfriend supporting and helping me to get through this.

Lastly, I am thankful for everyone on this forum who has given me support. I know I'm leaving people out, but neversickanymore, cuhpcakes, and SSTP... you guys have been instrumental thus far. Thankful for making it through Day 12 of sobriety, and arriving on Day 13 with new opportunities.

Your doing amazing things TTGB.. for you and for those that love you.. dont ever forget to give yourself the credit you deserve =D
 
thankful that I met such amazing friends this year. learnt that family has nothing at all to do with blood relations.=D Seriously some of the things some of them have done/said this year bring a tear to my eye when I think about them.

For anyone who is alone, just stick to it... the good people are out there! it took me 27 years to find them, and damn i felt like giving up so many times.
