so tobacco interacts with liver enzymes causing decreased plasma levels of benzodiazepines according to an old thread here.

anyone know how long it takes for the enzymes to go back to normal?

i'm a fan of snus when i'm doing homework, don't use it very often but i had some today and some caffeine to get my work done and now that i'm done i wanted to pop some klonopin and relax, however i just remembered this interaction, so maybe i should just save the klonopins for another day?

yeah smoked a bowl with a friend and took my 4 mg klonopin sublingually. awesome feeling, but now i'm ready to conk out :(

also, i read TOBACCO SMOKE is what raises liver enzymes.

either way, i've got a decent buzz going on right now. think i'll save the oxycodone and xanax bars for another off-day.

also, i read that the CYP enzymes it raises only affect certain benzos as diazepam and alprazolam, but not clonazepam and some others.

I guess it depends on your physiology. I can smoke cigs drunk, on blow, gib and X along with opiates no prob but for some reason if I even have half a cig while actively on Benzos I find my balance get's completely fucked and I can barley stop from walking towards one side. Like the motor control in brain is on the fritz. Within 10 min the nicotine wears off (I rarely smoke which I'm sure compounds it) and I'm back to normal. Weird.

It's the byproducts of combustion, not tobacco that cause this. At least from my reading.
