To Rave or Not To Rave

"bros" think along the lines of a frat boy at an electronic event.

not usually drunk that officer.

Esspecially the ones that think they are at least a little bit "gangsta"

I just kind a lot of them obnoxious.

You definitely should at least hit one up and see if you like it. You missed a great rave on Friday ;D Stomped for like 6 hours straight haha. I love our scene. All the non-underground events are posted at NWTekno

They're much more appealing to me too, but if they were posted on google they wouldn't be underground ;p

What do you pay for a "concert" in the States? Here in the UK it ranges from 10 to 20 pounds for a good event with up to 10 famous djs. The problem for me is usually that the train + drugs + food + ticket adds up to a LOT. Last one train was 18 quid, the one before that 34 :o

Bassnectar was selling them for 40, but right when I got the ok to go they sold out so I bought them off of stub hub or soemthing for 70 :/

Last night, Dash Berlin dropped We Are Your Friends mixed with Eastern Jam by Chase and Status. Did not expect it at all, I was already on the downside of my roll but the euphoria was still going during it and it was just amazing.

I can only imagine...

Wait why did you not like the people on the dubstep scene?

More sketchy people then the house scene, but still nice overall.

i say go for it. my first few events i was sober or tripping, and i felt super awkward and didnt have a great time. then i rolled at one. i've been going to every rave i can afford ever since. i rarely even roll lately, it just took that experience for me to be able to let go of my insecurities, feel the good vibes, and dance till i can't stand. have a blast and be safe.

Yeah man, isn't that weird? I've been going to raves for a few years now and just tried rolling at a couple recently. Now even if I just go have a few beers and not pop anything I still just feel like dancing because of those few experiences I had. So amazing! Life changing really...

If they bumped Sierra Leone - Mt Eden Dubstep at a rave while I was there I would fucking overdose on coolness haha but I dont think they would since its not really a happy song

Nahh mate, slow shit like that don't fly in a club haha...

Seriously though, I can't listen to dubstep in the same way anymore after hearing it at a club rolling face. It just makes sense.

I thought it was good before hand, after the club? Fucking mindblowing.

Drum N Bass too, thats just eargasm right there while rolling, you just dance the night away.

I wanna go to a club now, instead I'm getting ready for college... Having a break from E til February/March anyway :(

They play it all the time lol. There's often a dubstep/dnb room at raves even if the party isn't focused on that genre. Skrillex is headlining a rave in Jan: http://nwtekno.org/showthread.php?t=151738

underground raves are rare and hard to find. Most of the raves these days are run by shady promoters out to make a few bucks off the public. It is no longer a movement. The rave scene is just a watered down joke of what it used to be.

On that note, I'm a jaded asshole ;)

I rave in Seattle and Portland and there's plenty of dubstep in both scenes. Neither scene has a lot of "furry unicorn" stuff and there will be plenty of people who are like you. The difference between the two scenes is probably the age difference - Seattle typically has all age and 16+ raves whereas Portland sticks mostly to 18+ raves.

The scenes have evolved a lot from the whole neon PLUR thing into something that everyone can love.

What's the worst that can happen? You drop $15 on a rave ticket and decide it's not for you?

You can PM me and I'll hit you up with a source for where to find out about upcoming parties

QFT.

unfortunately the scene in the uk went like this many many years ago...although there used to be some really good free parties (illegal raves) happening, but i havent been for a couple of years so this may have changed

The promoters here are actually nice people (minus one or two) :3 I've talked to nearly all of them at one time or another and they're really down to earth.

Lol, not all parties are "happy" parties....

Actually the dubstep crowd over here goes nuts for the dark heavy grimy styles of dubstep.... Most dubstep tracks are not the happiest of songs....

Boregore came through town.... There is video of like 900 people singing along to Love.

'Cause I love your pretty smile
I love your needy style
I love to be able to see that you are glamorous from a mile
I love the way you look
I love the way you cook
I spend all the time watching your pictures on the facebook
'Cause I love to buy you flowers
I love our hot showers
I can watch you sleeppin' for hours and hours
I love the way you dance
The way you shake that ass
But the thing I love most is cummin' on your face, suck it bitch

If you can get away with that one, Mt. Eden is pretty mild in comparison.... Its not a bad track, but its far from my favorite...

This track is pretty chill, but at the same time kind of heavy with a really groovy bassline.... Its one of the best things i have heard out of the genre. The slight pauses before the bass hits kind of grew on me... Its something that would be much more fun on a dacefloor.... It lacks a lot of the filthy grime sound that comprises a lot of the genre, and i am perfectly ok with that. Epic guitar riffs, epic vocal parts, it just makes me want to throw down hard...

Just about everything of theirs is fucking fantastic, a lot of their stuff isn't this "pretty", but its all really good stuff.

Haha, I love that track. A few weekends ago I saw the funniest thing ever: one of the hottest blondes I have ever seen in my life up on the stage with Borgore CHANTING those intro lyrics and pumping her fist while emphasizing "CUMMING ON YOUR FACE SUCK IT BITCH!". Then she began flailing all of her limbs when the bass hit and stirred a high degree of jealousy in me because I wanted whatever she was on....

Hahahaha.

GET TO THAT SKRILLEX SHOW! I'm so jealous, I hope he plays the NE UK soon... Saving my serotonin for that motherfucker haha.

I was there for a little bit... I was really excited to see borgore but it was a bunch of fail. I thought the venue was pretty terrible in many ways.... Imagine a square shaped various tiered room made of brick. And a huge amount of sound on one end of this box. Add wobble. Add reverb from the wobble being distorted on the brick, its like echoing a wobble and its not a great noise. Maybe it was just because i was sober that i noticed it more.... Everyone else was real fucked up. And then the night just kinda snowballed into fuck this, i want to go home. Another thing that probably wasn't related to the show was me puking twice, completely sober. I was just standing out side the feeling fine and then i just felt this wave of nausea and had to find a place to vomit. Puked. Felt perfectly fine after. Tried to stay until borgore came on. Tried to stand in the room for 10 minutes because that was the point where it was painful to listen to it.... And the employees were dick.

I want to see borgore in a different venue, Its one of the only venues that has seriously irked me.... And as an individual who has been attending electronic shows and concerts regularly for what is now a number of years, I know what bad sound quality is, you can have some pretty fucking awesome speakers, but if the walls are made of brick and concrete, and it will probably sound like there is reverb. They have people who figure this stuff out for a living you know. But im wandering, if there was a show i really wanted to see at the venue, i wouldn't go, even if it were free. Like Deadmau5 or something, probably just wait for him to come through town again and play a different venue.
