Opioids To fight the nod or not?

Hello, as some of you may know about 4 months ago, I had Scoliosis correction surgery with two - 1 and a half foot titanium bars and twelve 6'' bolts inserted into my back. I've taken just about every painkiller that I was prescribed before surgery and would buzz pretty good off them. Now, I do not have a tolerance because I quit for about a week to see if that's what it was, but it wasn't. I don't understand! I'm prescribed 180 Norco 10/325's 2 as needed.

I used to not nod off of them until I found Advil PM (Ibuprofen 200 mg/Diphenhydramine 38 mg) and I nod the fuck out.

Question is; Should I fight the nod, or let it happen? I'm going to be 18 in a month and weigh 120 Lbs . and am 6"1. I have a moderate tolerance to opiates and right now i'm on 25 mg Hydrocodone and the advil PM. Should I allow the nod?

I'm also prescribed Soma 350 mg and Gabapentin 400mg if that helps
 
i don't know if this is honestly the best advice but when i get high i embrace my nod, when anyone i know gets high(or takes their meds or whatever) they just embrace what's going on, and i haven't had a problem with it YET.

However, I would be careful nodding if you're taking more than your used to....i know my boyfriend always worries when i nod on a bigger shot than normal.
 
Yeah I just took 5mg more than my normal dose to be safe. Not nodding yet, but pretty close to. 3:20 P.M. here And I don't think I should have done it, but dammit, i'm hurting!!! ;)
 
Can you clarify the question? Are you asking if you are more likely to OD if you don't fight the nod, or are you wondering if one would experience more euphoria if they were to fight the nod or not?

Just wondering if I would experience more euphoria from not nodding. Far from OD'ing here but i'm starting to get cross-eyed and such
 
Well everyone, I did as told an embraced it. Actually, I couldn't fight it any longer and just slumped over :P

And Why do I have CEV's and audio hallucinations when I nod? Anyone else have this? Like, I see people and talk to them, and I can pretty much do whatever I want before I pass out.
 
Why are you getting so high from 3 norcos is the question

A week break shouldn't lower tolerance that much.

Consider yourself lucky I guess
 
I agree with uno22, if you're nodding off 30mg of hydrocodone, you have a newbie tolerance (like, an infant). You have a history with pain killers so I doubt that is it. More likely it is the interaction you are getting from all the other things you're taking. Talk to your doc about it, one of your other meds might need to be reduced.
 
Are you taking the Advil PM before you go to sleep, or are you taking it during the day along with your normal doses? If it's the latter, may I ask why!?

Personally, I find when I get to the point of nodding out that it takes away from the experience, I don't find a lot of euphoria in it. I prefer to get to the point just before nodding out. If you're taking the Advil PM with you're normal doses, it's no wonder you're nodding out. I can't really answer you're question any further, perhaps you can give us some more feedback on you're experiences so we can understand you're situation more.
 
I don't know. But i'm on 15mg Norco and 1 Soma and i'm feeling pretty nice,

And J.Wallace, I take the Advil PM along with my regular dose.

Why though? Are you trying to use the Diphenhydramine as a potentiator? I just see no reason what so ever to be taking Advil PM with a normal dose, it'll just make you more tired.
 
I was going to ask the same thing JWallace did, why take diphenhydramine during the day? It is the same active agent in the popular allergy pill Benadryl. It produces drowsiness and is used in OTC pain relievers and sleep agents for that purpose. Are you trying to "get the nod"? If you are, that is certainly one way to do it although at the doses we're talking about, it still shouldn't produce much.

i dunno why.....but i know i dream when i nod. and it's always crazy lucid dreams where i have control and they're unbelievably realistic. like one time i was laying down on my side facing my boyfriend and i straight up just spit on him like i was outside.
 
As far as recreational purposes from opiates, the nod is where I want to be. But I would never use potentiators such as Soma, other benzos, diphenhydramine, marijuana, or etc. because I enjoy a nice, strong, pure opiate high. The only thing I would usually do is drink a beer or two. No more. Don't get me wrong, I have mixed everything under the sun. I am just saying what I prefer. But if it seems to work with you and isn't at a dangerous dose than more power to you I guess.

Like a few others have said, I personally wouldn't enjoy the Advil pm during the day. Or too much Soma just because I want to be awake, aware, and remember my high.

Well...this person is 6'1" and weighs 120 lbs. That factors in somewhere. How is your general health overall? That seems a bit underweight to me...understand I'm not calling you out on the floor, and certainly not judging, but in the interest of giving good input, I ask.
 
if youre only eating three vic 10s you should not be anywhere near nodding out its definitly from all the other stuff youre taking. For me combining diphenhydramine with any opiate even in fairly low quantities makes me sleep, I dont call it nodding cause when I nod out I need to be significantly high on an opiate. If youre taking diphenhydramine AND soma with vicodin I defy anyone with a regular tolerence to stay awake.
