I thought of you today for the first time in awhile
Up until now I couldn't allow myself that priviledge
Your memory was too overwhelming
The slightest reminder of you drowned me in regret

But I thought of you today
And all I could see was your bright shining face looking at me
Such love
Amazing how much just that look gave to me

I'd trade so many things to have you back
Only this time you'd be ok
No fear or pain
Only love and happiness

But I have to block you out again
I only allow myself brief moments for now
The pain is still there
Only dulled some by time

I hope you are ok
And you know that I loved you

I love you still

A very good poem, this one. I really like the way in which the structure thins down to just the one finishing line, giving it far more punch and highlighting it.

Your memory was too overwhelming
The slightest reminder of you drowned me in regret

Very nice metaphor there. I enjoyed reading this poem, so thanks for posting it. :)
