Hello all long time reader first time poster wanted to see if someone could give me some information. I'm going for my first visit to get prescribed saboxone. I haven't had any opiates in about a week is that going to keep me from getting them? I was getting about 300 mg of Percocet a day. and now that I've been off of them this whole week has been hell I just want to get into a program to get something so I can get my life back on track but I don't want to go in there and be denied because I'm not withdrawing.

. Thanks for your input
newbie .

My experience comes from both sides. I was doing my suggestion is to stay away from opiate replacements. Your just putting off the inevitable. I went from doing 1600mg of oxycontin a day to nothing in a matter of hours. I was sent to jail for violating probation for being positive for 7 different narcotics...awesome huh? Nope. I detoxed for two weeks with no medicinal support and got through it. I followed that with some treatment and meetings and 4+ years later I'm still clean...the choice is yours.

Hey thanks for telling me your story . Congratulations and keep up the good work ......... is anybody else out there that can comment on whether or not I should show up clean or be in withdrawal for my first appointment.

You can still get on suboxone.

The idea is that Suboxone is ideal since it helps interrupt the cycle of ups and downs that is associated with opiate abuse, and this helps stabilize you so quitting is easier. :)

Some people are able to quit without Suboxone, however I can assure you I wouldn't have quit using without Suboxone.

I wasn't even using a lot of heroin compared to the amounts of oxycodone listed above... but I am particularly sensitive to opiates, and I get a lot out of them.

Opiate withdrawal aggrivates my ADHD so Suboxone was a godsend while I was still transitioning to a point where I would be able to get medication specifically for ADHD prescribed. And after that, it was all downhill from there for me. :D

Welcome to Bluelight! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

P.S. showing up in withdrawal for the Suboxone intake appointment, that is your best bet.

Thanks for all the info. It's exactly what I was looking for. I was told by the nurse on the phone that i would have to have clean urine before i could perticipate in the program.
