I've noticed that usually the younger addicts/binge users/ ex addicts have a much easier time than middle aged and most especially seniors. I've had people tell me kicking at 65 is alot harder than kicking at 40 or 25 or 20. If you've been maintaining a habit for years and are now a senior citizen, chances are you can suffer from the EFFECTS of kicking because many senior citizens, especially addicts now have high B/P, hep C, problems compounded by poor circulation, difficulty breathing and therefore more likely to suffer uncontrolled B/P, or respiratory distress, bla bla w/o proper medical attention. In the case of senors, I can see why it very well could be possible to have receptor/other maladies if you're body has been used to receiving a steady supply of opiates for years. If you give a non diabetic small amounts of insulin injections daily even though he didn't need it, to counterbalance the artificial insulin, your body will quit producing it's own.

As for the guy that's in the UK Pete, are you sure you didn't have some type of unipolar (depression) ADD (they called it being hyperactive when I was a kid) or some other pre existing condition before you started using? Just a thought cause a friend of mine and his wife used H for 3 years (both were healthy in their 30's) and then stopped. They are now going through a divorce because after 3 years she refuses to get help for her depressive disorder which she had long before dabbling with H. Only now, it's more noticable apparently than it was before. Over time some people become quite adept at ignoring physical or emotional pain because they become desensitized to it. Then you do dope, you feel comfortably happy/numb, whatever until you stop so now you notice the fucking pain full force and until you deal with it. Like other posters have said sometimes H just masks pre existing physical conditions or lack of emotional fulfilment due to whatever reason. My two cents.
