i saw a kid running in the middle of the road today and it brought back thoughts of you..
laughing without a care in the world,
not noticing the sky falling around you.
you were beautiful in your madness
genius in your insanity
filling a room with an
inexplainable buzz
you stunned me with your speeches
smoking camel nonfilters
and drinking whiskey at the playground
the 15 year old you...
impressing the 13 year old me...
sitting on the swings at night and talking about
...someday....
you were my dream...
your energy was contagious
and i wanted to say thank you...
for allowing me...
to catch on to your back...
and be carried along in
your wake.
your old soul
an example of how
i wanted my
life to end up.
opal opium dreams
and swingsets under
new england stars...
waking me up to read me your
poetry and
talk about life...
always someday....
and forever
when i see kids running in the street
or...
playing tag in the dark...
whenever i think of new england in the spring....
i silently thank you.
(to my best friend whom i have known for years and years...my big brother of sorts)
