I have ADD and was prescribed Concerta, which did nothing, then Ritalin, which helped at first but when I switched the brand generics, it made me extremely tired. I called my GP and he referred me to a psychiatrist. My appt was last Friday and I explained my experience, so he prescribed me a 90 count of generic Dexedrine (10 mg) (Dextroamphetamine made by Barr). My Dr. wanted me to play around with the dosage and see what feels right .. however, no matter what dose I take (I haven't taken more than 15 mg at a time)... it still makes me extremely tired especially during the day. If I take it in the evening, feel very relaxed but have been staying up really late, totally engrossed in something online or on TV... it has also made me want to do things with my hands... like paint or draw or even clean. However, the whole point of me getting it is to get more alert and organized at work.. and I just feel very zoned out... I can stare at something for hours... and each time the phone rings, I jump out of my seat.
Does anyone else have this experience? Maybe I built up a tolerance? (I heard that taking it a lot / frequently makes people "depleted" of dopamine for a while) .. It is just soo frustrating to hear people talk about how great this drug makes them feel, how alert, social, etc... when all it does for me is make me want to crawl under my desk to take a nap.
