Tips to keep a steady hand IVing?

You know, its a metal circle that slightly overlaps over itself. You can slide keys and stuff on it.
Make sure you get a thin one, and put it on the end of your rig. This allows you to put your finger through it so you can pull back with only one finger really easily when you register, then plunge away.

warm towel over arm and tourniquet to pump the vein up a bit. If your veins are shallow and narrow mark just below or above the entry point with a pen.

Go through the motions dry until your confident then relax and smile.

Important to note that I don't IV but I am trained in phlebotomy.

Use an alcohol swab to the area first, I have seen some horrible infections.

DR PEPPER... thank you for your advice about the key ring!!!! it has been one of the best pieces of advice i have heard since i started doing this crap. it helps so much. so much easier to draw back and push in without shaking or moving hand positions. you rock

yeah makes sense... good advice.. (he means a 'key ring' people)

i don't necessarily agree with the whole keyring thing because of the fact your finger may unnecessarily yank the plunger, offsetting the syringe and possibly tearing through your vein or even depressing the plunger resulting in a missed shot especially if nervous. it just seems like too much room for extra, unneccesary damage.

i've never had a problem with the short stubby fingers i have but a good alternative would be using 1/2cc syringes instead pf the 1cc syringes if manipulation is a problem and you're using small shots of under 50units.

though it seems to work for people, that's my only problem with that technique.

Prob too late for you tbk aye but just incase, can you find someone you trust to do it for you? Thats the way we went and it was safe as. Also stop when you feel the tide coming in and dont be afraid to waste any, its way better than odiing, you dont have to do a whole bag, if you make say four the others can wait in the fridge right!
