tips on embarking with DMPEA

Having just received a decent amount of 3,4-Dimethoxyphenethylamine, I realized that all that was available was the freebase. It was a very watery consistancy of VERY noxious ammonia smelling light brownish liquid.

My Pargyline had not arrived yet and I was hoping to attempt some other ROAs to see if(like DMT)i could experience effects without an MAOI. People are so quick to dismiss this but it is clearly active in receptor studies and Shulgins conclusions don't make sense. Of course 1g isn't going to do anything orally and of course 10mg IV isn't going to do anything either. Hell 10mg IV of MDMA doesn't even do anything(atleast not to me).

At my disposal I have Zep calcium/lime/rust remover which is a mix of hydrochloric acid and sulfamic acid and I also have Reallemon juice. I hope I'm not breaking any rules here and I apologize if I am. Can anyone give any pointers/suggestions(other than "don't do it")I tried microwaving off some of the RealLemon mixed with a bit of Zep and all was going we until my kitchen started filling up with slightly noxious steam. Luckilly it is highly ventilated but I stopped trying to boil it off and now i have a dark colored smaller volume of liquid which still smells a bit like ammonia even though it's mostly acidic solution.

From what I read in PIHKAL it isn't active at all, didn't see his mention of possible activity either...

good luck and be careful, I'd still consider this guy unresearched

There is plenty of mention(not in PIHKAL) of it being a 5ht2a agonist, and in receptor studies compared with DOM, MDMA, Mescaline etc... I am atleast 98% sure it is active, basic PEA and tryptamine are, as well as 3-MEO-4-Me-PEA, 3-ETO-4-MEO-PEA and 3-Et-4-Me-PEA and 3,4-DMA so I would think there'd have to be some sort of SAR fluke for this not to be. I just can't drink something that smells like ammonia

haha I see, I'm sure someone in ADD might be able to help you faster.

Looking at its structure it sure seems like it'd be active.

hope ya find something.

Yer probly right. Looks like the microwaving may have worked a bit. Not sure though but the much thicker liquid has now turned an amber color and there are crystally patches floating on the top as well as dry white residue on the sides of the measuring cup. The crystally patches look dark at first like slightly burnt mass but when i tilt the cup and they stick to the side they look white. The odor is disappearing a tiny bit, perhaps I need to wait longer for the base to acidify?

I also poured some DMPEA in a cup of Zep only without heating it. That has not changed at all.

why are you using zep?

for oral prep, simply mix with enough lemon or other foodsafe acid (crystalline ascorbic, citric, etc) and check your math with a pH strip... i assume you have a scale and you're not just pouring random amounts of dmpea in random amounts of acid?

WTF are you trying to do?

Are you trying to salt out your freebase substance?

If so, you have to have the correct amount of acid for the amount of compound you have. you cant just go randomly mixing draincleaner with it and microwaving it....

are you trying to prepare a solution for IV?

are you just trying to convert it to a solid?

I wasn't sure if Lemon was acidic enough, I mean I hear about using lemon all the time although I wanted a pure crystalline product as well, I wasn't sure if the lemon would add a gunkyness to it. Also I was under the impression that for insuffilation a HCl would be better even though Zep has Sulfamic acid. I don't know what else might be in it either though, they dont have to list everything on the container.

Insuff, but not IV

what is point of having a scale when I do not know the exact percentages of the Zep or the Lemon? I just use pH paper, that's the best I can do for now

once again i ask... why in god's name are you using zep if you plan on putting the product anywhere near your body? you just said you don't even know what is in that shit.

well I only have used a little bit or it with a tiny amount of DMPEA, I will discard that batch if u feel it is infact that dangerous, i thought i had heard of people using it before-not sure tho, I wasn't sure about it, but it "seemed" OK at the time.

there was some white/clear crystal like patches from boiloff left on the bottom of my microwave carousel plate. I tried scraping just to see what it was like and it was soft, not crystally like K. It did chop up but still smells kinda like ammonia with a faint hint of vanilla maybe. Probly not safe/pure. Perhaps I am just better off waiting for the Pargyline...

How about acetate salt if you want to evaporate it and get crystals, and you can't get HCl? Just get some distilled vinegar.

Very curious to hear what happens, btw!

personally i would purchase pure citric acid from somewhere. it's fairly easy to obtain.

dissolve the measured amount of DMPEA freebase into a non-polar solvent. dissolve the corresponding mass (mole:mole) of citric acid. let it evaporate. now you have dmpea citrate. someone correct me if this procedure wouldn't work please, i've never actually done it.

as for dosage? odds are that an active dose would be well over 100mg, for obvious reasons. i don't know enough to give an educated guess other than that however.

if you dissolve the dmpea freebase into a non-polar solvent, the citric acid will just fall to the bottom without reacting or dissolving. it will take a long time for all the dmpea to be converted to a salt in this fashion.

I've obtained HCl, i'm having trouble finding anything locally to test the pH with. What would be the downside to having too much HCL mixed with DMPEA??? If it boils off what is the downside/possible negative outcome from having too much?

If you have an excess of HCl you can remove it with sodium bicarbonate which is sold as quite a few products (look it up, do the homework) - it produces gas (CO2) until all the acid is gone. The downside is it can mess up your quantities a little and can end up as an impurity so write down first how much mg or grams of DMPEA freebase you are converting, then afterwards you know how much in your resulting solution or solid.

Like I also said in the post with your trip report: get a pH meter - if not an electric one get the testing strips or otherwise liquid indicator which I bought myself for 'aquarium purposes'.
