some form of exercise.. maybe don't go too hard with whatever you choose to do and over exert yourself... i recommend learning light breathing exercises from someone like a tai chi or yoga instructor.... sometimes though you don't even need to do that type of stuff and sometimes just getting up and going for a walk and whatever breathing you naturally find yourself forming from walking can help.

you can read from many different sources about how breathing affects peoples minds and bodies in a positive way. some people can achieve meditative experiences similar to drugs, but i wouldn't really recommend just still meditation or yoga for getting off drugs cause you may have a lot of energy and find it frustrating. you may want to give all styles of exercise a try though. .. i would say most importantly do some cardio even if it's just like light walking.. you'd be amazed how going for a walk for a few hours can cut into the day, so if you are occupied wanting to take drugs doing some exercise just makes the day go by quicker and if you can get into a good pace walking, it shouldn't really be that frustrating. once you start to get sober for longer it should be easier to recognize that your body is getting healthier and this should be incentive to stay off the drugs that are harming your body.

if you start walking, you might find yourself with the energy to start jogging, and then even be able to run... i'm pretty much stuck on light walking though. i like the pace of it. i find it really relaxing. i don't really like the adrenaline from heavy exercise but everyone is different. it's probably better to get the heart going a bit from exercise.

First, don’t beat yourself up if you mess up. There’s always tomorrow. Heck, there’s always the very next moment after you slip up. If you do get high, don’t spiral into shame or self-hate. A slip doesn’t erase your progress. What matters most is how you respond afterward. Learn from it, reset, and keep moving forward. You know yourself better than anyone.

You have to keep yourself busy. Video games, TV, reading a book, cooking, whatever works. Try to get some exercise in too. A big part of this is learning how to distract yourself in healthier ways and not letting yourself sit in boredom or bad headspaces.

I’m still figuring this out myself. Months ago I threw away grams of RC benzos and walked away from that for good. I stick to my diazepam prescription as prescribed and try to be smart and careful about anything else. Everyone’s path looks different, but the goal is staying safe and staying honest with yourself.

As William Ernest Henley writes in the closing lines of Invictus:

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Art! Consider a weighted blanket, journaling, and sleeping. Get outside, meet supportive people, and don't be hard on yourself. Don't mislead yourself; be honest with yourself and someone you trust...get help if you need it...music, digital art, writing songs and poetry, etc., are my outlets.

HUGE ones—all my ugly-ish pours into songs and it totally shows...sometimes it's dark; certain music is terrible for my family to listen to (since they suffered through 15 years of misery too). My faith has helped me, but I understand that everyone has their own beliefs.

After generating Spotify playlists for three years, 2025 was a humorous experience. The AI couldn't define my likes, with freak folk ranking first. 😂
