Tinnitus treatment

THere is a corolation between smoking H. and many ear issues--if you are suspesptiable to such probems.

There was also mention somewhere here in AusDD recently about a study that found some link between common analgesics and hearing loss? Here we go:

QUOTE]

Many years ago I was prescribed large doses of slow release aspirin. I didn't realise at the time but this caused me to have a complete mental melt down due to the associated tinitus that it caused, ringing in my ears and head 24, 7 none stop!!! Once I found out that it was a side effect of aspirin i stopped taking it and the tinitus disappeared.

Apparently people with incurable tinnitus even commit suicide in some of the worst cases - let's just say there's no envy on my part!

I've just learned to live with it. From many years exposure to piercingly loud tones (audio design/repairs/production etc), I've had tinnitus since I was ~25yo. But it wasn't until I had been DJing for a few years that it got really bad. A hearing test ~10 years ago indicated I had the hearing of a old man who'd worked a jackhammer all his life. There was no medication I could be offered, and no foreseeable hope for a cure. I ceased DJing and reduced my exposure to loud music/noise, and for a few years the tinnitus lessened in severity. However, a few months ago, one exposure from cold chiseling some concrete without muffs brought it back in it's full glory. I still have dozens of frequencies constantly buzzing in my head.

But you can learn to live with it. It's the hearing impairment that not so easy to deal with. Once I could take in several conversations at once and note all that was said. But these days if there's more than 3 or 4 people talking it's all just one big jumble of mumbles.

well about a year ago i developed a slight constant variable ringing in my right ear. at first i thought it was something to do with some source of power in my room. phone charger, fuse box outside, computer, but after turning out the power i realised it was inside my ear. I've used DMT, 2c-e DMT 5meo, lsd and i've also found out meloxicam can cause it, so i stopped taking it... for a while it was driving me crazy, i had all sorts of tests and my cure was to sleep with very good music on... a year later i don't know if i still have it or not because i go to bed with music on... but i seldom do psychedelics atm due to me not being in the right frame of mind, but i'm pretty sure it's subsided... i sympathise with anyone who has developed it as it's the most annoying thing, especially for someone who find it hard to sleep in the first place.... may have given me a legit reason to get clonazepam prescribed as my doc is reluctant to do so, because it's on the PBS as an authority script which comes in 200... stupid doctor, who i don't see any more is happy to give me a private script and bullshit to me that lorazepam isn't as addictive as clonazepam pfftt, and that clonazepam is 'only' used for epilepsy??? he must think i'm stupid

So does clonazepam work for tinnitus? for anyone thats had success suppressing it?
