Sites like this are intimidating. I've read threads on here for years, but this is my first post. I noticed a really friendly vibe and a distinct lack of judgemental beahviour. This is why I'm writing.


I'm early 30s. I lost a kidney when i was 25, 10 years after a disease began to ravage it.
I now have one remaining failing kidney. As a result I am, even at my age, a 19 year opiate veteran. There's not a massive amount I dont know about pain and how to make it stop, and with what. I've progressed from codeine to DHC to currently OXY. All prescribed, not recreational by any stretch but now a life altering dependence.

I'd love to reach out on here. The family don't quite get it. They can't offer any advice that is new.

I want to know how it works on here. What I can talk about. What I can't talk about. Is rather not fall foul of anyone.

As well as a much needed outlet for myself, I can help people too. Like I said, my knowledge is extensive on certain subjects...to the point the family and friends will text me asking the best combos to deal with their various ailments. Not the best rep I guess but it is what it is. I didn't choose this life....but I'll live it the best I can.

So, do any of you have any advice, about here?

Anything really. You were all new. This is probably an irritating ramble by normal standards but I am open to advice!

Thank you. Me too. While the painkillers have a strong grip on me and can't imagine not having them...and I try to...I'd rather wake every day without any souce of pain or the life altering anxiety of running out/sourcing said tablets and try and feel good with no more than life in my blood....

You can post about anything really.. There's not much you can't say,- it's probably all been said before. Or done or seen or heard if you get my drift.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had such a significant disease as to lose a kidney & suffer from pain. That must've been scary for you & your family.

I can empathise & commiserate the stress & anxiety of running out of pills!! It's consistently a monkey on my back. Actually, even just now thinking on it,- I get a physical reaction in my gut. An empty, hollow, sickening feeling. And I've just today collected my script. So you can certainly post about that!

Again, welcome & look forward to more posts.
