I stepped outside on a sunny morn'
and in my eyes the flowers bloomed
from seat of gold I watched the sea
shimmer swift in summer's glow
endless still the currents rise
endless now the season seems
but in time the times will change
in time the winter comes
frozen now the lake appears
tracks of deer in snow revealed
famine sweeps 'cross barren field
whose harvest once our village fed
a baby cries in solemn night
where now the sun with its golden light?
I remember fall all yellow orange
trees corrupt in beauty die
before the cold a moment shines
a brief time where wisdom springs
betwixt laughing children sprinting round
and old men playing checkers in central park
in that moment all's revealed
then, quick!
snatched back by hidden hand
it disappears in faceless void
sage is he who remembers yet
one simple proverb or secret word
for the rest, we of the multitude
for us naught's revealed
and into winter we retreat
wishing still for summer's heat
and in my eyes the flowers bloomed
from seat of gold I watched the sea
shimmer swift in summer's glow
endless still the currents rise
endless now the season seems
but in time the times will change
in time the winter comes
frozen now the lake appears
tracks of deer in snow revealed
famine sweeps 'cross barren field
whose harvest once our village fed
a baby cries in solemn night
where now the sun with its golden light?
I remember fall all yellow orange

betwixt laughing children sprinting round
and old men playing checkers in central park
