Having gone through maybe 100+ batches of pressed keif, followed by 200+ batches of QWISO (Quick Wash ISOproply alcohol) Oil, Followed by around 100+ batches of BHO I feel fairly qualified to give you some advice when making concentrates.
In the future, just don't use 70%. It's just not a good idea. Do you want that 30% water soaking into your buds, meaning into your hash? That's how hash goes moldy. Honestly, when making QWISO I don't use anything less potent than 99% Isopropyl. I don't want to break a "source" rule here and accidently give away the location of a perfectly legal ingredient so I'll just stick with saying in my neck of the woods only 1 or 2 of the 5 or 6 big food/drug chains even carry the 99%. Plus, ironically enough, QWISO Hash isn't really too quick at all. I can have a batch of BHO run through and purged in under an hour. To do QWISO proper, which is the only way to do it, takes some time. In fact, the two most educated people on the subject that I know personally cannot agree on how long to soak the ground/frozen flowers/stems/shake in the Isopropyl. One school of though claims that after a very short amount of time you will have pulled all you're gonna get from the plant material. The other expert claims the longer you soak your plants in the Iso the better, up to 2-4 weeks even. Although, I feel it should be stated that if you're going to soak that long you're going to wind up with a much darker concentrate--which for whatever reason people fine less desirable, I personally have observed no difference in potency/affect.
BHO is honestly the easiest thing ever. I'm not gonna go deep into this one, it's all you buddy. Goggle and youTube your way through it. I few tips though: The more refined the Butane the cleaner the concentrate. Make sure you get "unscented" butane, or your concentrate may taste funky. Grind/Freeze Buds, put in pipe. Seal top, seal bottom with filter. Run can of butane through piping for every..... I think it's half Oz, but I'm not positive, obviously depends on quality.
Both types of concentrate can be purged the same way. My preferred method is to turn on an electric heating element. A coffee mug warmer for example works great, something with a wider circumference would be even better, obviously. Never drain your concentrate into a glass dish with corners, you'll wind up wasting product. drain into a rounded vessel. Take a metal paperclip and unfold it. Whip the oil/wax until it either A) turns more opaque and shiny, or B) Crumbles and turns almost dry looking, usually tan, yellow, gold or white-ish in color.
