I'm wondering how long it'll take to dissolve? I've only used about 1 to 2 millilitres on some glass pieces of mine to dissolve any/all leftover goodies so I can re-concentrate the stuff down to a single hit (instead of being spread all throughout my skillet!)

So anyone have any idea? It's 2030 (the time I initially applied the isopropanol onto the glass). I'm not expecting it to be quick, as it's 70% and not 91% nor 99%.

Any information would be very helpful; thanks everyone!

I'll be able to go go the shop and get shatter some time this next week, but I'm caught in a bind for this weekend.

hours. even 99% takes a while. blah, even butane takes a while and that stuff boils at room temp.

It's been 6 hours and it seems I'm down to 0.5ml "liquid" that appears to want to separate from the oil / oil-y goodness.

So I'm going to let it have a few more hours then I'll try to evaporate it through heat. Unwise? Any suggestions/bits of aged wisdom?

i've never used heat to evap myself but a fan blowing across the top helps a fair bit

ok thanks

if I don't have access to this will heat work? I added some heat and it seemed to work fairly well; but I don't want to get antsy and rush the process and ruin the last of my product until the machine brings in dough.

So it's been about 12 hours + heat, and I drew up all the water that floated on top after the iso was essentially evaporated. I'm thinking about trying to dab some just to get going.

Having gone through maybe 100+ batches of pressed keif, followed by 200+ batches of QWISO (Quick Wash ISOproply alcohol) Oil, Followed by around 100+ batches of BHO I feel fairly qualified to give you some advice when making concentrates.

In the future, just don't use 70%. It's just not a good idea. Do you want that 30% water soaking into your buds, meaning into your hash? That's how hash goes moldy. Honestly, when making QWISO I don't use anything less potent than 99% Isopropyl. I don't want to break a "source" rule here and accidently give away the location of a perfectly legal ingredient so I'll just stick with saying in my neck of the woods only 1 or 2 of the 5 or 6 big food/drug chains even carry the 99%. Plus, ironically enough, QWISO Hash isn't really too quick at all. I can have a batch of BHO run through and purged in under an hour. To do QWISO proper, which is the only way to do it, takes some time. In fact, the two most educated people on the subject that I know personally cannot agree on how long to soak the ground/frozen flowers/stems/shake in the Isopropyl. One school of though claims that after a very short amount of time you will have pulled all you're gonna get from the plant material. The other expert claims the longer you soak your plants in the Iso the better, up to 2-4 weeks even. Although, I feel it should be stated that if you're going to soak that long you're going to wind up with a much darker concentrate--which for whatever reason people fine less desirable, I personally have observed no difference in potency/affect.

BHO is honestly the easiest thing ever. I'm not gonna go deep into this one, it's all you buddy. Goggle and youTube your way through it. I few tips though: The more refined the Butane the cleaner the concentrate. Make sure you get "unscented" butane, or your concentrate may taste funky. Grind/Freeze Buds, put in pipe. Seal top, seal bottom with filter. Run can of butane through piping for every..... I think it's half Oz, but I'm not positive, obviously depends on quality.

Both types of concentrate can be purged the same way. My preferred method is to turn on an electric heating element. A coffee mug warmer for example works great, something with a wider circumference would be even better, obviously. Never drain your concentrate into a glass dish with corners, you'll wind up wasting product. drain into a rounded vessel. Take a metal paperclip and unfold it. Whip the oil/wax until it either A) turns more opaque and shiny, or B) Crumbles and turns almost dry looking, usually tan, yellow, gold or white-ish in color.

I used the 70% to dissolve oil on the inside of my glass skillet used for oil/wax/shatter.

70% is a pain to work with.

For future reference you can dry IPA by adding a bunch of salt. Salt isn't soluble in IPA and it is soluble in the water. The water will absorb all the salt and sink to the bottom and you will be left with 95+% IPA up top. IPA is labeled by volume so 1000ml of IPA is 700ml IPA and 300ml water. Add salt till the water is supersatured and decant your solvent from the top.

This IPA will evaporate much quicker.

i know im so mad meijer quit carrying 99% its so much harder to clean my volcano now....
HOT water helps. salt can help. sometimes not.
sometimes leaving a bowl in a proper bag(or multiple to prevent leaking) with alcohol overnight is very good. then use very hot water to do the rest of the job. honestly it helps to manually get the big hunks out if its a bowl/spoon or something thats really full of that nasty no good AWFUL resin. god i hate that crap. i hate when my girl smokes her metal pipe even. the smell makes me gag!
