okay im not exactly sure how to explain this but i will do my best. Sometimes i have to use the same needle twice. I always wash it out with hot water and make it sterile with some rubbing alc. However this leads to the needle getting tight and hard to even push the water out, which making it very hard to hit a vein with registering. Is there a solution to making the plunger go a little smoother?8( any info would be nice.

I always re-use rigs 5-7 times and never had this problem. ( bad HR. do as I say not as I do )

what brand of rigs are you using ?

my advice to you would be not to re-use rigs.

I have been there myself a few times. However this is the first time this has happened to me and i cant get another rig till im back in town.
I use BD U-100. Just wondering if there is maybe a safe way to lubricate the plunger making it smoother and not so stuck up.

The rubbing alcohol is eating away at the rubber and making it bind to the plastic. Don't use rubbing alcohol, use bleach and that wont happen. I used to get that problem all the time with alcohol on my rigs, and i just put a little saliva on it to make it run smooth but i think that is like a really bad idea (bacteria in your mouth is icky), but i really couldn't have given two fucks when i was sick thats for damn sure.

BD are notorious for sticky plungers - reusing only reinforces it, try not to reuse if at all for the sake of HR and treating your veins to the best care possible. try swapping to terumo if you get the chance, you'll rarely run into any problems with them.

if it's too much of a hassle with the BD plug it in the mean time until you get a chance to pick up an alternative brand.

Thanks guys, i think i will switch brands. I actually tried putting just a little neoporin (sp)? on the plunger itself. Just a tiny bit for it to run smoothly and it worked fine. Defiantly going to take the rubbing alcohol thing into consideration and think of a different method of cleaning if i have to re-use a rig again.
Anything else you guys would recommend cleaning a rig with if having to have more than one use out of it??

Just bleach, really. Run it through your rig (suck it up into the barrell then push it out), then rinse the rig out with water a few times to make sure the bleach is all out of there.
Again, we all know we should not be re-using needles, but if you're in a situation where you need to and are going to, clean them out with bleach.

Alright thanks! Ill start doing that, I try to only use a rig twice if i have to in situations. I ended up being able to get some new ones though :) Had to bullshit a story to the clerk to let me purchase them.
I never thought of using bleach though, thought it would be a little too harsh? I've only been using rigs now for a few weeks now though.

They probably gave you thirthy guage...those suck...Certain pharmacies seem to gett off on giving you obscure syringes they know you don't want just to mess with you because they know you're a drug user....I always ask for 1/2" 1 CC 28 guage insulin syringes..
