I had this problem for a week or so, it seems to have gone away now, but I am still scaredby how serious it hurt.

Background: had been using opiates for a few months, and had to get clean for court
Was taking soma, to help with withdrawal.

On the morning day 2 of my kicking of H, I got to coughing and gagging in the shower and I dry heaved I guess would be the best way to explain it and all the sudden was hit with an extreme headache which lasted onlya minute or so.

Later that evening I decided to masturbate, kinda looked forward to having some of my sensitivity back from kicking the dope, when the magic happened, I was locked down with another pounding extreme headache.
Only lasted a minute. But I'm telling ya, the pain was right up there with anything I've ever felt.
After it subsided it was just a dull pain at theback of my skull where it joins my neck.

For the next few days any time I attempted to pleasure myself I was hit with this pounding headache.

I tried to avoid holding my breath, tensing up anything which I thought could be helping trigger such a thing and it really didn't matter.

I was freaked out I might have an aneurysm.

After a few days it has stopped and I had real sex last night and I didn't have the headache.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I did some research and found that it is called coital cephalagia, at least something similar.. although I would like to know if anyone here has felt the wrath of such a headache.

I remember experiencing very severe, pounding headaches following smoking cannabis. Pretty odd since other substances haven't caused such cranial discomfort, not even alcohol hangovers.

You say you don't have these painful moments following sex with a partner? Perhaps these migraines are signals that you shouldn't be so selfish with your sexual libido. :)

Dude, that sounds really scary. I'm afraid I don't know enough to offer you much more than that.

Maybe if you ask one of the mods real nicely, they could teleport this thread over to the Neuroscience and Pharmacology Discussion subforum.
There be some clued-up cats in those parts.

Have you considered having any tests done? I understand MRI scans and shit can be pretty insanely expensive in the states, but may be worth it for peace of mind?
Stay safe, and kudos for kicking the dope - hopefully this is just something weird associated with WD.
Stay strong, my friend!

@ cakes, the headaches stopped during any of the sexual activity, just a few days of hell. And talk about selfish, I could feel the pounding (no pun intended) starting and I would keep going anyways. Nice to enjoy sex(even with myself) more than drugs again.

Also I should mention I was, and will resume being a daily cannibis smoker.
I know pot acts on bloodflow to certain parts of the brain.
But I quit the ganja at the same time this was happening.

@space
Thanks my friend, from my heart.
If I had insurance I would immediately went to the doctor.
But I am stubborn, so I just told my closest friends that if something happened what my wishes were.
I will be seeking medical attention if it comes back, regardless of the cost.

Mods, feel free to move this thread wherever you see fit.
Thanks for your time.

It went away, but after an evening where I ate 5 soma muscle relaxers I got a light one the next morning
They had been really bad at the same time I had been having quite a few somas and abruptly quit
So chalking this one up to drug abuse
My blood pressure was fine
