Throwing Up During First Shrooms Experience..?

Hey everybody, this is my first thread (and first post) here on Bluelight. Hopefully this is the correct forum for this...

So I have been looking forward to tripping on shrooms for a while now, and I finally got the opportunity to do so yesterday. Me and one of my friends (also his first time) split an eighth ounce of dried shrooms, hoping to get a trip that was not too intense. We ate them at 7:30pm and then basically just waited for the effects to grow stronger. After about an hour I began to feel the effects slowly creep up; my stomach was turning a bit and I felt a slight pressure in my head. Soon textures and patterns became interesting, wavy, and my depth perception was off. My mind was racing and me and my friend were in somewhat of a confused state at times (not negative, just different than what we had ever experienced). Electronics such as my phone and laptop became more difficult to use.

We waited until about 9:30 or so, until we were a bit more used to the effects, and then we went outside to smoke a little joint I had rolled earlier. At this point I felt pretty good, my stomach was fine, and I was enjoying the trip (it still was not extremely intense). However, once my friend lit up the j, began smoking it, and went to pass it to me, I had a sudden rush of nausea. I went to take a hit and before I could really even inhale the smoke I had to just turn away and I threw up. I immediately felt fine afterwards, but didn't really smoke any after that. We went back inside, and then about 20 minutes later, I threw up again. My friend never threw up and seemed to be tripping pretty hard (more than we had been tripping before the weed), but my trip was largely killed after throwing up. I only felt a slight mental effect and the strangeness of coming back to reality. I continued to have some fairly deep thoughts until about 1:30am when I finally took some melatonin and fell asleep.

So my main question is why did I throw up? I thought that some stomach aches were common with shrooms but I haven't heard it to be as common for people to actually throw up, and I had not really felt any nausea up until 15 seconds before I vomited. Also, I smoke weed virtually every day (including earlier yesterday before the shrooms) and I would think that smoking a joint would calm my stomach as opposed to making me sick after just bringing it to my lips to take a drag.

I really want to trip again, but obviously don't want to throw up. I actually wouldn't have even minded throwing up as much if it didn't sober me up like it did.
Any suggestions?

Thanks

Either from my own expeience....You where over excited about mixing pot and shrooms that you got the bubble guts and threw up....Or the shrooms just didn't set well with your stomach.....When I tripped shrooms the first time I wanted to throw up but couldn't. Trip ended badly in a seven month psychosis but hey.....qI'm pretty sure someone here can give you better advice since I don't do that stuff anymore.

My first time doing shrooms i made the mistake of smoking a little weed before and it was total hell. Weed for me equals anxiety every time though. Shrooms without it turned out fine every time though. Still something you do everyday might be fine by itself but not when adding another drug to it. I would try shrooms by itself only. Its worth it.

Nausea is often par for the course with psychedelic drugs.

Also, you may have swallowed a bit of pot smoke which triggered it, but that is just speculation.

You guys shared 3.5g, which isn't a very heavy dose. I would say your experience was quite normal. Your environment and mental state have a huge influence on your trip, and throwing up had a definite psychological impact. You say you regained a sense of reality compared to before vomiting, yet your thought patterns were still obviously altered. These drugs elicit a spectrum of effects, and the experience is very plastic.

I am going to move this from Basic to Psychedelic Drug discussion for you. Welcome to Bluelight, hope you stick around!

There's nothing unusual about throwing up on shrooms at all. It happens to me and several of my friends nearly every time. You can try a number of different things for the nausea including eating ginger or making shroom tea, but I prefer to just puke and get it over with. Your trip being killed because of it is strange though. If you were already tripping it's not like you threw up the psilocybin that was causing the effects you were experiencing, so I'd say it was psychological or perhaps related to the weed.

My first time taking a large amount of dried cubes also resulted in vomiting late in the evening. Ingested "22" mushrooms (didn't bother weighing them, lol...) at around 7:30pm on an empty stomach, then by 11:30 I almost immediately went from feeling great to wanting to spew. Brought up a whole heap of semi-digested shrooms, leading me to conclude it was simply due to my stomach being unable to break them down and instead deciding to purge them.

Since then I've ensured to crush the hell out of the mushrooms before ingesting, as this way you've already done most of the work for your stomach. Also helps to have a cone and eat something clean and low fat after you've come up, like some salad or fruit.

Mate of mine recommended downing the powdered/crushed mushroom matter with the below greens supplement, as this was his method and he experienced absolutely no unsettling of his digestive system. I'll be giving this method a go myself next time.

Its fairly common for people to be sick during first mushroom experience - some people can feel paranoid, become sweaty, become really anxious, (yes there is a chemical explanation) - as a mushroom lover, the mushrooms like to make them selves at home before they unleash the magic. This can cause you a bit of discomfort but its short lived - sipping on ginger tea (ginger, lemon, honey hot water) during the come up can really help with the nausea (can also be made and cooled).

Best just to relax as once your used to the mushrooms (or they know where to go when you take them) the nausea vanishes.

Ask your Doctor for Hyoscyamine. It's used for nausea and overall stomach issues. I take 1-2 .125mg tabs whenever I eat boomers and NEVER get sick.

Otherwise, I get sick as fuck. I got lucky and was prescribed the stuff for valid reasons years ago. Recently I got some boomers and took these with them and had a blast and didn't get sick at all. I may have had ONE or TWO coughing fits that were a lil close to causing me to vomit.

Look it up. Good stuff

I find that whenever I've had a break of more than 4 weeks from shrooming (rarely if ever in the last 2 years), I get a bit nauseous. Or if I switch strains suddenly (for example I ate Golden Teacher for 8 weeks in a row with nausea only the first 1 or two times, but when I run out of GT and switch to another homegrown strain the nausea comes back). I've never actually vomited, but have extremely minimal stomach contents just in case. Most of the time I use an OTC proton pump inhibitor that works miracles.

Mixing strains can also produce nausea for me, or taking amounts greater than 5g.

As others said the vomiting is pretty common and not a big deal. It's just an effect of the drug. Hyoscamine is a little above what I'd recommend... dramamine should be quite enough!

In my experience though, I'd say it was a combination of indigestible chunks of mushroom (chewed them instead of crushing them up - silly me) and slight nausea, causing my stomach to purge said indigestible shite.

Just crush them up well, wrap the crushed material in a tissue or something, swallow the whole package at once, then have a cone and some fibrous food like fruits once you start to come up :)

True, but IME it's almost guarantees I don't get nausea.

I'm used to puking on drugs and found boomers to be the most painful next to being dope sick. But everyone is different.

I always chew my shrooms well and I've never even felt the slightest bit nauseous. Try chewing them to a paste before swallowing (it also makes them kick in faster the longer that they're in your mouth before you swallow) if that doesnt work, or you cant handle the taste, shroom tea is the way to go! good luck and absolutely give shrooms another try, they're awesome and you shouldn't let a mediocre first trip get in the way of your exploration of them :)
