Three year old ectasy tablet good to go?

So I was going through old belongings at my parents house today, and I found a green Mitsubishi stamped ekkie from at least three years ago in a stash compartment under my Baoding Balls in the box they came in. Anyway, I decided to eat it. I tasted the familiar bitterness and it seemed similar to what I remember of these green mitsos when I had a bag of them years ago. I can't be bothered going out, in fact I'm supposed to be studying for finals. It's been about half an hour, I'm just starting to feel a slight edginess that I usually feel when my pingers come on.

The question, I guess, is do mdma pills age in any way that you can describe objectively? I'm not interested in subjective descriptions of "oh yeah, they should be right" or anything similar. The pure mdma crystals I am familiar with changing colour due to moisture, but it seems pills are different. This is the oldest pill I have ever eaten, I think. I guess I want to know now if I can expect the same amount of fun I had on these babies back when they were the thing, coming up black on the tester (?)...

About to pump some mad tunes and relaaaaax :)
 
The drugs stability and potency decrease with time and atmospheric exposure. Usually takes a few years however. If your feeling effects then it obviously has not degraded to the point of losing enough potency to stop you experiencing it.

Yep... So is there a chart for decrease in potency or some sort of similar mechanism for working out how quickly it will degrade? I'm a numbers person, I want to know what the amount of decrease would be for any given time frame, if possible. Thanks for your reply :)
 
if it is stored properly an active dose of mdma will out live you and prehaps sevaral of your grandchildren before it loses all its potency. I heard about in erowid or pihktal I can't quite remember.
 
From what I can tell, the pill was just as strong as when I had them years ago; it was more like 3 and a half years that this pill had been sitting in its hiding place. When I take ekkies, I much them, *nom nom nom*, and it tasted just like before from memory.

I am still wondering if there is a numerical method or model that represents or calculates the reduction in MDMA strength due to atmospheric effects. Anyone know of such a model or method to deduce the content after years of atmospheric exposure? If not, such a model would be highly useful, and I would be open to doing research to develop such a model. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

not in australia mate.
we were getting white mitzis about 3-4 yrs ago and they were fine.
at that time every second pill was a mitzi press, though.
a few years prior to then there was a particularly large batch of red mitzis that killed some people. there was all sorts of stories surrounding the infamous red mitzis but i think it was just good old caffeine exploding hearts and vessels. i never personally had the red ones but mates said they were speedy as fuck and most ended up with headaches.
 
I dont have a reference, but i believe Sasha Shulgin stated that if MDMA hcl was stored in king tuts tomb, it still would be psychoactive today. as long as its not exposed to moisture or flame and its in its hcl salt form, it wont go bad anytime soon. and i dont believe such a chart exists since it would basically be useless. i bet you were happy when you found that pill ;) yessss! score.
 
It's the strength of the molecular structure and what that structure is made of. LSD for example rapidly degrades as it oxidizes, MDMA has a different chemical structure and the molecules do not degrade when exposed to atmosphere to the extent of LSD. I have no idea if there is a chart about drug degradtion in atmospheric conditions, probably not. Understanding the chemicals structure/chemistry and possible reactive capacity to atmosphere (ie the chemical reacts to other chemicals in the atmosphere making it's molecular structure degrade or become inert). As stated MDMA is a fairly stable chemical structure and will degrade very slowly, as some have stated, over centuries if correctly stored.
