Three Score & Five - Half-Passed Life

Eh up oldies;)

New here, but quite liking the vibe so far...

Am approaching some level of ancientness myself, and age must have been on my mind when I quickly dreamed up my username...bit odd in retrospect prefixing with 'ageing', but there ya go..

Getting a fair few grey hairs thesedays, which aint all that bad. The worst thing bout getting on a bit is the increasingly long recovery times needed from partying...although desire and other life factors have also contributed to a slightly more restrained lifestyle thesedays too...

Wouldn't go back though...feeling more and more comfortable in my skin as time goes by..

I'm only 22 and already feeling the aches and pains of a decomposing body. Can't bend my knees without agony and my knuckles are like rusty hinges. Fortunately no greys yet though. Could swear I'm contributing some greenhouse gases to the atmosphere too. Or maybe that's from too much fried chicken.

Also glad to hear the social anxiety develops into couldn'tgiveafuck-ness eventually, it's killing me at the mo. Not looking forward to turning into a respectable citizen and getting a job though.

partyfiend: High-five to my fellow Northerner!

I also can't lick my elbow but continue to practice.

Found out a long time ago that this is impossible. I just found out right now that it actually isn't. I just licked my elbow! Get it up yees!!

Who says age has to dictate owt?

True, as I mentioned in the Friday thread, I was partying with dude from Art Department on Friday & when he asked my age & I said I was 26 I honestly thought he was gonna say he was younger than me. The cunt was 41. I've also just found out that his name is actually Kenny Glasgow lol. You'd never have known this guy was in his 40's, he was partying like fuck the same as everyone else. Even when some bird fired on a bit of 80's cheesey shit for a laugh at 2pm the next afternoon he came bouncing right over & got everyone dancing lol. Some boy.

I've just found this bit of the forum and as I'm 48 this week seems worth posting. Don't do things much differently to years ago. Agree with others that drugs seem to keep you looking- or is it just acting younger. Most of the older lot I meet at parties (when I occasionally go) look young for their age, me too I guess.

"Old geezers from Mid-Wales ftw."

Hi Shambles I'm from there too. Lovely long mushroom season.

Just over 29 1/2. Turn 30 in September. Feeling some dread - I only really managed to start getting to clubs a couple of years ago and haven't been to nearly enough events under the influence of nearly enough substances to be able to consider myself clubbed out...! ;o)

Still, could be worse... I could have started turning grey aged 22... Oh, wait... =D

(Honestly, truthfully, I'm a much happier and more enlightened person these days than I ever was before, and turning the other cheek - for what it's worth - is becoming a lot easier. For that alone I'm glad to be getting on a bit.)

bloody hell this threads full of ahem 'mature' caners from Wales...in my experience there's a lot of us in this neck of the woods...must be something in the water...

Yeah so true, it's not the reason I moved here, but there's a nice, comfortable vibe here. And it's good to party without feeling like a freak!

Quote taken from the Friday thread...

I'll always be a raver, and I'm in my very very early 30's.

Bristol, and free parties is the place to be, I love talking to 60 year old hippies at free parties and festivals.

This week I sorted out some soft black out for my dad, who's 59 (He prevents me from saying he's nearly 60), he's always away playing gigs, chatting up girls the same age as me ;) Who says age has to dictate owt?

My going out raving days are over, but hey doesnt stop you from staying in and having a good time;)

Plenty of the oldskool party organisers seemed to move here once they all had kid and decided to live in teepees instead of trailers. Think that's why the free party scene is still so big here considering the sparse population mainly consists of farmers and their flocks. And middle-class "hippy" tossers buying up smallholdings and thinking they're Farmer Giles (or maybe Farmer Garedd) cos they bought a pair of wellies and a Barbour jacket.

Indeed...I lived on the road for a while in the late 80's....and when I came to live in mid-Wales in the 90's met up again with plenty crew I knew back in the day...had a ball in the 90's frequenting the brechfa/abergwesyn/lampeter/talybont parties...the parties aint all that nowadays however, although my living room is quite good occasionally:\

know a fair few of the talley crew too, past and present...and the odd middle class tosser too heheh...and also plent party crew/organisers...so I bet we have a few acquaintances in common;)

Quite possibly we do :)

Talybont is not too far from me and have definitely attended a good few parties up in the hills round there. I've only lived round these parts for a few years so don't know how recent parties compare to those of yore but given they are basically the only form of entertainment on offer round here I'm not complaining too loudly so far :D

Teepee Valley may be riddled with tossers sometimes but they do throw a decent party ;)

I was meaning Talybont twixt Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, whereas I suspect you might be referring to Talybont-on-Usk, scene of recent (last 10 years, lol) free parties/raves?

Used to have 3 or 4k people up Talybont often in the mid/late 90's...fookin wicked parties..amazing location

Nup - that is precisely the Talybont ('twixt Aber and Mach) that I speak of :)

Never been very good with names and places round here but most I've been to have been sort of around that vicinity. Somewhat offroad and well off the beaten track by the time you actually find the bloody things though usually :D
