Thoughts and suggestions for forum improvement

The bottom line - and I believe MDAO would agree with this - is that in this forum, mutual respect trumps intellectual prowess. While we appreciate intelligent posts, abusive or belittling posts are simply unacceptable.

No, not at all. I do feel a little bit lost when discussing Russel's Teapot and the like ;) but its more my own lack of education which embarasses me. :o :\ I had a, aherm, very patchy scholastic career...:\ That said, I am a learner, so yeah...:):)

However, it would be nice if all philosophical arguments not-made-by-a-BLer-but-posted-by-one would be put into context/etc....

Glad you like my sig, willow. It's truly what I believe. Philosophy is just curiosity taken to the level of a sport, where wisdom is the prize to be won. Spirituality is just extrapolating beyond the phenomenal world we behold on a day to day basis, with the goal of finding a source of meaning for our lives. Both are valuable parts of the human experience that are worth preserving, especially since both have an ancient and rich, but sadly largely forgotten, common history with drug use.

Remember to always research concepts, ideas, arguments and 'facts' that you find interesting on bluelight. There are at times sequences of incoherent, dissociated walls of text that seem rational, until you deconstruct it (however, this does not detract from their validity or relevance in terms of discussion value). I read threads or posts that I generated years ago, and sometimes ask myself what the hell I was thinking when I wrote them.

Maybe if people would post things they feel without fear of being ridiculed critized or having their ideas dismissed as crazy. No matter how obscure your ideas may be whatever you are feeling is valid even if inaccurate or influenced by some sort of bias. I have recently become interested in the personal growth one can experience. Self discovery after one has already thought they knew themselves. A sort of exploration of the taboo and forbidden parts of the psyche that most people will not acknowledge yet alone embrace as part of themselves.

Regardless TD, you are on thin ice in P&S. Being drunk and verbose produces lots of words without necessarily producing postworthy content.

Drunks are often cute when they are not pissing all over your particular forum or thread. Lots of flowing words is not lots of content.

Wow that's really offensive, patronizing and completely uncalled for. I, on the other hand, didn't say anything remotely offensive in the other thread, which I didn't realize was started by the same user. In fact, I thought I articulated my thoughts pretty well. And I wasn't particularly drunk.

This is a drug forum. Most of the members of blue light are either drunk or stoned or (fill in the blank) to some degree. I don't see why I deserve to be singled out by moderators and insulted for absolutely no reason whatsosever. I'm on thin ice? I never post in this fucking sub-forum. These are the only two threads that I can remember contributing to inside P & S ever. And as I said I didn't say anything remotely offensive and I'm not breaking any rules, so:

Please either apologize or explain to me how what I wrote deserves to be called drunken prattle.

I am an intelligent person. Maybe you're smarter than me. I don't know. I don't care. I don't follow you around and tell you that what you are writing is shit.

It's not against the rules. I could have edited the previous post and inserted that sentence into the end of it, but I don't see the difference.

You are the worst moderator I have encountered on this forum and over the past ten years I've had run ins with quite a few. If you were a cop you'd probably sodomize people with your service revolver.

There are a lot of members of this forum that are less intelligent than me, but I don't go around calling them fucking idiots for no reason.

Unbelievable what this forum has become. Karl Bath, one of the greatest Christian philosophers of all time was once asked if he could summarize what he meant in his literature on faith and the meaning of life. Dr. Barth thought for a moment and said: "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so."

If im not allowed to say my opinion then whats the point. Lets all discuss philosophy and spirituality as long as the moderators agree with it.

It isn't a question of if I agree. Its that you are not going to be allowed to post a mantra over and over. Some portion of a post has to be fresh content. If I went through every thread in P&S and posted "Form follows function" it would be partially relevant to many threads but spammy and kind of off. I think Christian forums would require a bit more content after a while as well.

I guess that explains how we post things over and over and how I constantly ramble on about bullshit. Looking over your posts I really don't see how they are so special or indicative of supreme intelligence. You write a lot of crap too.

If this is how you treat the position, you should not be a moderator.

Yes. If a post has been UAed you don't see it or find it in a search. You are correct over and over would indicate more than once.

I'm not going to go into another members postings publicly by your request.

I think it is fair to say though that repetitive, mantra like posts with little content were removed from view before I moderated here and will continue to be removed from view after I'm gone.

Since one of my other hats is being a mod in support I should point out that the most effective means of appealing moderator decisions or actions you find objectionable is to PM the Sr Mod who supervises the forum.
