That's funny. In the US we're saying fuck the two party system.
You can have a Democratic Republic without only 2 parties, like France, or the scandinavian countries, the PQ (party in power provincially in Quebec, independentist) models its future and also inevitable country (even according to politicians who are anti-Quebec secession in the ROC) on a country like Norway. Also there is issues which only apply to Canada, such as non-proportional vote ridings, in reverse, northern alberta has 2 of those, yet they pull as much weight (and more) since let's say a forever red Liberal party riding on the island of Montreal or in the area of Toronto...
I much prefer the NDP (official opposition) to the Liberals, they became the second opposition party for a huge reason, I'll spare the details, google "sponsorship scandal" if bothered. But it is the same NDP who declared a motion of non-confidence on the then minority government of Harper's Conservatards, which automatically started elections....they did so at a moment where things weren't necessarily change anything, the NDP grabbed even more seats from the Liberals, the BQ (which only elects in Quebec due to its obvious political stance) was crushed due to the NDP too. Yet, I still respect them, even if they removed any reference to socialism in their "party bible". They've been in the shadows since the 70's, their provincial branches gaining power pretty often from manitoba to newfoundland. Their leader was amazing, yet he died of cancer right after the elections, so all of those who voted for Layton got fucked in the ass and his replacement as leader of the opposition isn't bad, but he has nowhere the charisma to take down the conservatards...hopefully that rcmp investigation leading to Harper directly gets us some pretty results soon, or Canada will become Texas. Alberta (our texas) is taking over...
