This past week something rather extreme happened to my body and it has scared me quite a bit that sub is causing it.

Basically from what I can see is that sub stimulates most people at lower doses. I'd have to say 4-6mg is the lower dose cut off. And I've seen people on higher doses say that it makes them very sleepy, to the point where they can sleep 12 hours at night, take a 2 hour nap during the day, then go right back to bed at night with no problem.

Thats definitely not my case however.

But I'm speaking to people who have a prescription for sub and have been on it longer than a couple of months.

I noticed this specifically about sub.

Sub extends my days. It extends them from a normal 24 hour time frame to 36 hours roughly. And let me explain what I mean.
If I take a dose of sub at noon, come night time I can NOT sleep. That dose will make it impossible to sleep till about till around 4am. Then I will want to sleep as late as possible. Usually till about 2pm. Once I wake up. I know my body wants to go till about 4-6am before it needs sleep again. That was how it was at least the first couple of months. I had to be awake longer on sub to get to sleep, and I had to sleep longer on sub before I felt awake again. If our days were 36 hours long I feel my body could adjust precisely, but because they are not, lately I've been suffering.

And now I fear that the sub has built up in my system so much over these few months, that I'm now always in a state of stimulation/sleepiness.

This last week I had work ok. Usually don't work till around 3pm. So I dose my sub around noon as I like to feel it when I'm at work obviously to get through the day in a weird but quiet sub zombie mode (I talked a ton the first couple weeks on sub now I barely talk at all I've noticed).

But I'd take the noon dose, come home from work around 11pm, and still be wide awake. So much so that sleep wasn't even an *option* till about 4am. And I found recently this week now, I lay down at 4am, and still can't sleep. To the point where I start to dose in and out of sleep around 10am, may pass out for 2-3 hours and then I have to get up and start getting ready for work.

Whatever is going on Im feeling sub has built up so much over these few months that my body is always slightly stimulated from it at night, and the tired feeling is from the lack of sleep not the sub itself.

So this last week I went to work every friggn night with only 2-3hours of sleep. By later in the week I was a fucking zombie. My body couldn't sleep cause it was always so stimulated on one level from the sub. I believed once my body just got ridicuously tired, from say 2-3 days of just a couple hours of sleep a night... that it would finally get a full 8-10 hours of sleep and I'd feel good again. Well for everyday I had work since I couldn't fall asleep till right before I was do in, thats when I realized that on sub I'm awake much longer, and I also sleep much longer, to the realm of a 36hour day.

And I can not go through another week like this. These 2 days I had off I sleep about 14 hours both days. Because I was able to fall asleep w/out worrying about work during the day.

Now howeever look at my position. I have work tommorow at 2pm, its 4pm right now and I just woke up.
WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO?
Should I just stop dosing for the day? If I dose 4mgs now, I will NOT SLEEP again period the end. 4am will roll around and I'll be wide awake. Then I'll start doing morning chores and feel somewhat sleepy, knowing if I lay down I won't sleep at all cause of how long the sub actually stimulates my body. Its always my mind that wears away first. My vision gets fuzzy, I can't respond quickly, but still my body will feel stimulated from the sub.

This is damn near close to being on speed afaic. I'd take a dose and need to be up for a looong time before sleep was possible again. Maybe fall alseep around the 24hour mark, sleep for 16 hours etc. Sub isn't that extreme but still this is a FACT that its extending my normal day sleep/wake cycle. And trying to adjust to a 24 hour day is impossible.

I don't want to lose my job so I'm hoping a decrease in dose will get me back to normal, as well as more proper sleep hygiene. But in the last week I must have slept about a total of 10 hours the whole week. Then my 2 days off I slept 14 hours each day.

I can't live like this and if anyone has this effect where the feel like sub extends your natural day, please let me know. I think the build up of sub in your blood just makes it worse. As I didn't have this happen till after I was on it a few months, and realized I just couldn't sleep no matter what time it was. And the only time I'd get sleepy was right before work, so I never slept.

God why can't opiates just be simple?

I think a lot of it might have to do with how late you're working at night. I don't know anyone who can wind right down from work and go to bed. If I was working till 11pm, I'd expect to be up till 2 at least, and could easily stay up longer than that.

Try forcing yourself awake earlier so as soon as you wind down for work you'll be tired. Less sleep = more tiredness.

Yeh thanks guys you are both right as far as sleep hygiene is concerned it would prob be smarter if I wake up earlier regardless of what time I'm do in.

And I also cut down to 2mg today as I think its just built up that much in my system which would explain this last week. I mean there are days like today where I wake up and just take the bupe out of habit not even considering if my body really needs it. So this week I'm going to bounce my dose down every other day to see if I can run some of the bupe out of my system.

If sleep starts to improve then I'll know thats definitely what it was. Thanks guys.

dont blame it all on the sub. yes theres a good chance its contributing factor to this but.

IF u want to fall asleep quicker when u get home. dont stay in your bedroom. till its time to sleep. watch ur caffiene intake they say 8 hours but imo 4 hours or so and ur good. same goes for candy sugar.

stay out of ur bedroom till its time for u to sleep. so ur brain understands or gets into the routine of ok im in this room this is the sleep room.

now this aint gonna happen over night but after awhile it will happen and u will be able to fall asleep much quicker.

also ive heard reading a book and not watching tv or some shit will help also.

trust me i kno where ur coming from i work more than u do and do have trouble falling asleep and only sleeping 4-5 hours during the week.

Bojangles, Opiates can have this effect on some people. I seem to remember you mentioning having the same problem with Poppy Tea.

You should try having the Sub as early as possible in the day, possbly even getting up earlier than usual to take your dose. Then there is less risk with the stimulant effects affecting you later in the day. I had a similar problem when I was on a Prozac script a few years back.

I find a hot bath, maybe taking a weaker sedative such as Valarian or Passiflora may help. Also I found evaporating a few drops of Lavender essential oil on a radiator in your room before bedtime can help.

I found the lavender also helped me nod out on the Poppy Tea, ah lying on my bed listening to Heavy Metal CDs!
