well, since you are allergic to vicoden, means you are allergic to codine as well, and MAY be allergic to oxy-codone (oxy contin). Since this could be the only pain killer that you will be able to take you might want to know a little about it...sicne i know absolutly NOTIHING about "Talwin" i foudn a link for you where you can get some info. http://www.bankhead.net/BoozeAndDrugs/Drugs/talwin.html
hope this helps

It's an opiate painkiller of considerable strength, I believe. Since it's relatively rare, I don't know much else about it. I'm sure it has significant abuse potential, if that's what you're wondering. On RXlist.com they stress about 4 times in the FAQ to never inject it... I wonder if that's a real warning or just trying to stop people from getting high.
Be careful. I wouldn't take more than the reccomended dose till you know more about it.

Chesire's post wasn't there when I started writing mine... That's an interesting link he posted. Apparently the reason they put so much emphasise on not injecting it is because its so pleasurable, according to that site. Interesting...
Have fun with your meds.
EDITED: Because upon further alalysis of that site, it appears that page starts of talking about Talwin, then moves on to generalize about all narcotics. Also, looking around more on that page, I'd say its a really crappy place to try and get reliable information.

Must say that it ranks up there with percocet *my favorite*.
Oh-and by the way. Word of caution to everyone who thinks that its *normal* to be itchy on vicoden. It's NOT. Learned this from the doc in the ER. Itchyness <~is thata word? is a sign ofa possible allergic reaction. So be carefull out there and thanx again for the info!

**good corruption*
Wanna be a little more specific as to whuta schedule IV opiate is? *THANX*

Talwin = bullshit crap IMO, they try to pass it off as a decent opiate but thats a lie..
Itching is NOT a sign of an alergic reaction, in fact, it's VERY COMMON side effect.. you say you liked Percocet? How do you KNOW you're alergic to hydrocodne? My best guess is that YOU'RE NOT.. did you show any other symptoms such as a rash, swelling, difficulty beathing, fever, etc.. if you ONLY itched then I think your doctor dicked you over..
A schedule IV drug indicated that the drug is, well, in federal schedule IV - there are 5 schedules, with C-I being FULLY ILLEGAL with no accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse - such as LSD, MDMA, heroin, etc.. C-II are drugs are those with an accepted medical use, but a high potential for abuse - such as Dilaudid, Percocet, Morphine, Methamphetamine, and Cocaine.. C-III and C-IV drugs are those will a lesser potential for abuse, etc.. C-IV means it's really crap.. it's not an OTC drug, but it's damn close.. C-IV drugs have a low potential for abuse, etc..
