Nah, they're gaining ground in the UK on issues other than gay marriage. See anti-abortion protests and the 'gay cure' bus ad for examples.

Anti-abortion protests have been around as long as state sponsored abortions. A tiny group of Christians took out an advert for 2 weeks on 5 bus routes, and they were blocked from doing so. The pro-abortion and pro-gay lobbies are infinitely stronger than any Christian lobby. He shoots, he misses (again)!

eh, but theyre largely irrelevant. they hold no power, and if they are gaining ground it's inconsequential and minimal, surely? .. as far as I know and have read anyhow, which admittedly is limited. I'm not in the slightest bit concerned or worried about it here anyway

the US, totally different story, and most of the things I've been reading recently have been pretty horrific on that score, USwise anyhow.

Even though its obvious what's meant, whenever I hear this phrase I instantly think of a group of people trying to persuade people to abort their child and that abortion is a positive thing.

As long as you're acknowledged by the political mainstream (as the Christian Right are) then it's a solid position. And as nobody knew of a Christian Right in the UK ten years ago it's gaining ground.

It's not the strength of the US movement, granted, but I never claimed that. Just because (x) is bigger than (y) it doesn't mean that (y) is insignificant.

the anglicans are scattered and in disarray and don't mean shit to your avarage Brit [edit] or any of the top 3 political parties[/edit]. maybe when it comes down to changing and softening of the existing laws (like with gay marriage laws, like I already mentioned). but not when it comes to taking a harder line on shit, it's all largely irrelevant

Britain doesn't give a shit ... it's largely athiest, and it's not gonna get any more conservative on issues like animal rights, personal rights (like abortion) anytime soon. seems that way to me anyways

You said watch out for them trying to get women who kill their unborn children via a suicide attempt prosecuted, as if they could ever have that power with their numbers at an all time low. Help! I've found myself agreeing with MSB two or three times in the last couple of days! Only on minor points right enough but it's cause for concern.
 
I'm gonna have to suggest an "EADD Unnecessary Arguments" thread for a second time.
I really think we could benefit from it.
