*he paused to stand*
*as he took his class ring*
*off her hand*
*all who were watching*

*ran down his cheek*

*of the moments they walked*

*but now her eyes were so terrible cold*
*for he would never again*
*have her to hold*

*he touched her face and started to cry*

Oh my.
Tell me, did the original version have anything to do with alcohol? The whole class ring thing sounds REALLY outdated.
Maybe it should read:

i remember the first time i read this poem, i got it like a year or 2 ago in an email as well. it is a very emotional message (even though it looks like its bee edited through time). everyone should take this to heart. i had a handful of friends killed by drunk drivers. it hurts a lot of people.

I took this email seriously the first time i had heard it too. But it was talking about drinking and DRIVING, not just drinking.
If the altered poem had said...
*When friends let friends
*Drive on E
...then i might have taken it a little more seriously. But this is just saying that she is dead because she took a pill.
