Im currently taking 500 mg of lyrica for benzo withdrawal and I had a few questions.

Ive noticed that I no longer have a sex drive. this got worse when i started suboxone but I doubt it is solely suboxone. would neurontin have less sexual side effects?

is neurontin better for benzo withdrawal?

what is the equivelent dose of 500 mg lyrica to neurontin?

is the suboxone what is causing me to have no sex drive to the point where I have the ability to masturbate?

thanks

I think Neurontin is only half as potent as Lyrica, roughly.
Yes, Suboxone can affect your sex drive. Even though you can't feel it getting you high, it is a pretty strong opiate and opiates in general can affect sex drive. For me, it completely de-sensitizes me, so I can't feel any sexual stimulation while on opiates.

I myself have never noticed very much of a loss of my sex drive from suboxone and other opiates (other than everynow and then it being harder to get it up on opiates lol). But everyone is different and opiates do lower your testosterone levels. The significant loss of sex drive may be a combo of both for you but i'm leaning toward the lyrica being the main source of the loss (see link).

from personal experience I think the sub is your sex issue.

suboxone (along with other opiates) have practically destroyed my marriage

Lyrica majorly affects sex drive, especially at 500mg. That's a large dose. It will get worse the longer you are on it. Bupe also has an effect but I can't comment on the magnitude.

Neurontin also has an affect, for me Lyrica was much more potent than Neuronitin. I'd personally equate the potency ratio at >3:1 in favor of Lyrica.

I would not switch to neurontin, I feel like neurontin does almost nothing. I have been prescribed it at up to 2.1 grams a day, and it never had much of a noticeable effect

theres no coming off lyrica til my benzo withdrawal lets up. i cant get a girlfriend in my state anyway so Ill have to worry about it later.

yeah it sucks for sure... listen to my situation.

50mg Zoloft, 300mg lyrica 3x/day (900mg total), roughly 100+ mg oxymorphone insufflated + ~60mg oxymorphone IVed...

my sex drive is nonexistent its awful. i will only have a sexual desire like once every 5 days... and even then its not very strong i dont really care to try to get laid... i cant even masterbate it takes me 2+ hours and i feel so desensitized that it doesn't even feel good.

and i cant try to back off on the meds cause my pain is so excruciating... the relief from pain definitely trumps my need for sex.

I would get of lyrica ASAP!! That stuff has terrible unmentioned side effects!! I was on it for 6 mos. and the whole time I felt mentally incappable of anything!! Not to mention there have been MANY reported cases of people with normally healthy teeth and gums having their teeth fall out of their head. my own doctor told me that lyrica even scares him.

I'm prescribed 600mg Lyrica & 3,600mg Neurontin a day. It works wonders for my anxiety, migraines, and especially my fibromyalgia. I feel nothing from taking them, as I've built up a tolerance. However, the therapeutic benefits of the drugs are still there. They do exactly what they're supposed to do. I can't imagine going back to my life before. There are definitely sexual side effects and some serious spaciness and mental cloudiness at times. However, I still feel like I'm able to do all the shit I used to do, intellectually speaking. I plan on going back to school for pharmacology soon.

As far as switching from one to the other, they will essentially have the same beneficial effects & side effects. They have a few differences, but they are difficult to tell from one another. I've been on either by itself, for about 7 years. It's only been about the past 2 months that I've been on them both. They work better together than separate in my personal experience. I think that they work better for anxiety than benzos any day. I was on benzos for about 8 years. After a short time, I was hopelessly hooked on them and they didn't do anything for me anymore except keep me barred out and completely addicted. My anxiety was worse because of them.

Don't get me wrong, I'm dependent on Lyrica & Neurontin now, but I can honestly say that they don't have me strung out, which is the big difference. I take them the way I'm supposed to in the same dosages every day.

The biggest question is: Why are you taking Neurontin, and what benefits are you wanting from the drug? I believe both Lyrica & Neurontin are miracle medications, but that depends on what you need them for, also.

Yes, I'm kind of a walking, talking advertisement for Phizer, but if they didn't work, I wouldn't sing the praise of their medical benefits.

i might have to make the switch from lyrica to gabapentin because of insurance issues :(...they both are excellent anxiolytics for me but i prefer lyrica because it is more potent, but idk maybe gabapentin will help me, but i highly doubt it

Over time, gabapentin/pregabalin are better for anxiety than a benzo. They don't remove your anxiety, just help you to deal with it more rationally. Which is better in the long run, plus, you don't become strung out.
