I want to try the mints, but im from CALI
im thinking about trying acid for the first time. i have only tried weed and ecstasy. after abusing e i started getting anxiety and have had anxiety attacks when smoking weed. i havent tried smoking weed in over a month and i still have slight anxiety not as bad as before though. i also have developed hppd. if i tried acid would i have a bad trip due to these problems?

It could open your mind to solutions to your anxiety problems that have otherwise escaped you at this point.

Or...

It could be a trip from hell, an anxiety ridden nightmare of epic proportions.

Such is the risk for people who have anxiety issues and want to try LSD for the first time.

Personally I don't usually suggest people who have anxiety issues to trip or people who are not very confident and mature in being able to control the state of their own mind (positive vs. negative, anxious vs. calm)

If you have the right setting, and a good friend or two to trip with that you know are not going to have bad trips themselves and can offer some stability and assurance that I would go for it though, as the chance that it might fix you up with your anxiety issues is worth taking IMO.

I have very mixed opinions on this specific topic. I really really think it comes down to proper setting and trip mates / sitters for someone in your position.

Maybe drop all drugs for a while, let your head clear for a few months and then - if you feel like it - take a proper trip? Like PROZ4C said, it can be beneficial but there's always a chance of 8 hours of pure hell.

i too think it would be a good idea to slow down a bit. that you already have hppd is a sign you should be taking things slower. Try to take your mind off drugs, clean up your lifestyle, take care of your body and mind and only when you feel 100% think about trying it.
If you already think about having anxiety, and a bad trio you re more likely to end up in one. there is no rush to do it right? so why not take your time to properly enjoy it?

i also have developed hppd
May I ask who diagnosed you with HPPD? What symptoms do you have? Seems everybody is coming down with it these days, either HPPD or Serotonin Syndrome...

As for your question, I believe a low dose would probably be ok for you. Cannabis is much more anxiogenic than psychedelics for most people. It's quite normal to feel anxious whilst waiting for the drug to kick in but once it does any anxiety will dissapear.

Then it's not HPPD, HPPD is a disorder which by definition means it is 'that' bad.
Lots of people diagnose themselves with HPPD, serotonin syndrome, seizures and other things while there may be only little or no reason for it. I'm sure I have done it myself in the past, we're usually a breed looking for answers and bound to misunderstand or misinterpret. I think this is a classic case of 'medical student syndrome' i.e. medical students are quite prone to misdiagnosing themselves with lots of things they write about. I guess hypochondria is in a way associated with it. Anyway in periods when I tripped a lot I also saw worm-hole like things and fractals appear when staring at a wall. Don't mean to diss you at all, this is just something in general I have noticed across the board and others as well.

I am considering absorbing the following question in the FAQ: 'help, I think I have HPPD or serotonin syndrome, etc?!'

But this is not even really the topic at hand so apologies.
About a risk assessment: that is actually very hard. And not for us to decide. Unfortunately the most that can be said is that some things like pre-existing anxiety or depression issues are red flags or no-no's when it comes to psychedelic use. It could be manageable, it could even be resolved and approached therapeutically... but when taken in an unprofessional setting and without guidance one should not assume the spontaneous therapeutic benefits from psychedelics.
Instead, the character of the mind should be expected to be amplified so everything you experience now you should experience the same only significantly stronger. Breakthroughs would allow you to overcome parts of this, but as a basic rule I suggest you prepare for and accept the possible worst consequences which are that pseudo-HPPD becomes real HPPD, mood problems or instability could escalate, etc. Which is why it is always said only trip when you are feeling well.

Of course there are people who go against this advice and take the chance anyway. We're here to minimize harm but in doing so respect the choices everyone has for themselves.

What I am against however, is the premise that this kind of question can be answered with some kind of certainty. Discussing this may clarify a number of possible outcomes but not the chances of these things happening. Always keep that in mind.

take a little break man before you do acid. Theres no need to rush into things.

Learn how to meditate and while meditating ask your self what you want to get out of taking lsd, you'll know when you're ready. Meditation also greatly helps with anxiety, i know was a a benzo fien for 4 years
