Opioids thinking about shooting an opiate

Do not push your shot in "as fast as possible"! Depending on where you're hitting, that is incredibly dangerous. You run the very high risk of bursting your vein or missing the shot or even over dosing when doing that. :/

It's just a cruel irony because the whole it feels so amazing, you don't even want to know how it feels thing, while intended to be a solid warning, just escalates my curiosity. The whole Pandora's box, no turning back thing- It's just hard and confusing and I wish I had some numerical figure that would tell me exactly what percentile risk I was taking here.
Does everyone who tried it ultimately wish they never had? Does anyone know anyone who's ived an opiate and had the self control to not get addicted?

Also, I've experimented with drugs before, and nothing, I mean nothing, has ever lived up to what people said it would be or made me worry for a second that this would ever be a problem for me in the future- these things include weed, coke, xanax, aderall, oral oxycontin, and MDMA- all of which were fun and nice but would never pose a problem for me in terms of addiction or self-destruction.

It seems pretty obvious that you are going to eventually do it, if you have access to it, so for you, harm reduction is key. Get someone experienced to do it for you the first time, and have them go over every step with you, because you will eventually want to do it again. Also, if you are simply curious about the rush, don't shoot oxy, it's just not worth it. Shoot dope (heroin) or Diluadid, you will get the full experience from those drugs and it will satisfy your curiousity, for the time being. Personally, I feel the only reason that shooting drugs is so bad is because of the stigma associated with it. If you do it correctly, and safely, it is just another ROA, and the best one IMO.

Why do you keep focusing on if EVERYONE who tries it regrets it?

The truth is there ARE people who try it and can walk away fine or use very responsibly and sporadically. There are also people who try to shoot themselves in the head and miss by a milimetre sparing their life and forever have an appreciation for the gift they've been given that no one who hasn't experienced it could understand.

The fact is, the consequences of blowing my head off deter me from trying it regardless of how amazing I might feel after having done so.

If you NEED to try it so bad now and it turns out to be that good, the need will grow.

Don't gamble based on a longshot, you'll likely lose. Try to objectively look at what could and is MORE LIKELY to happen.

Sure. If you tell a kid not to touch the stove, they *have to* touch it to find out for themselves except for with this, you won't burn your finger but it might catalyze a series of events that fucks up the rest of your life.

I am very opposed to DARE-esque propaganda and scare tactics; people need facts and that's why I am committed to BL and proliferating factual information here. In this thread what you are hearing is not hyperbole or propagandistic scare tactics, its facts based on the majority of tens of millions who've had that same need to try it and fucked up their lives.

^exactly and everyone who tries it first believes fully that they ARE one of these people and its too late when they discover they are not.

Truth, I'm a straight A honors student, and that's EXACTLY what flashed through my mind when the cops were pullin my bags and rig outta my pocket.8)

Take a long look at where your addiction is right now, because unless you have an iron will, things are going to get crazy for you in a hurry with the needle as your friend. I know the first time I shot up I set ground rules for myself, and I'm sure a lot of people here did too. I'm not saying it's impossible to maintain the discipline necessary to not IV regularly, but, hey, you're already considering doing it in the first place, aren't you? Good luck to you. Opiates are a whole nother ball game when you start banging them. It only took me about a year to drop out of college, lose all my scholarships, and have my family almost disown me.

10 months free. Now I'm working a shitty job and trying to appeal my full ride to university. It sucks when the haze clears and you've fucked up your life.

trust me once you go to the needle you wont go back no matter what! Yes the rush is FANTASTIC but its not worth what comes after the rush. I notice when i go from smoking H, to slamming i get a lot worse. PLEASE do your self a favor and be careful. If your going to slam for the first time have someone with you that knows what they are doing. Addiction is a bitch but who knows you might be able to control it.

safe shooting8o

is it really worth it....

most of us say no.... that must mean something.....

I love opiates as much as anyone on this board. I love the rush of injecting dope. I love feeling my eyes glaze over and the warmth take over my body as everything fades away.

But you want to know what? If I hadn't started shooting up I would be finishing up my bachelor's degree at the college I dropped out of. I would have a driver's license and a car. My family would trust me completely instead of having gone through hell for the past four years. I would have some sense of financial stability. There would be no risk of my relationship with the man I love being ruined because we get high together too much and ignore other responsibilities.

No one can decide for you. You decide. Does it seem worth it? Your answer might be yes, and that's your prerogative, but just think about everything you have going for you right now. Your curiosity is just going to be replaced by an aching, constant need. Just be safe about it (as safe as one can be) if you do decide to do it.

Once I knew what a good hit felt like, I couldn't take my dope any other way. Anyone else had to hold onto their junk for a couple hours sick as hell until they could find a way to a Walgreens and get some sticks? I don't know if it's everybody, but for me I needed the gratification of the needle to get well.

Hi all,
I'm a 25 year old female looking for some help. I've recently become somewhat consumed with the desire to try shooting an opiate. (probably oxy) I don't want it to become a habit, but I don't want to die without experiencing whatever this amazing, indescribable "rush" is.
If I were to attempt doing it I would set very strict guidelines for myself. I would commit before hand to not even touching a needle again for a very long time at least- if not forever. I feel that I could easily commit to 6 months at least, regardless of how much I did or did not like it.
I respect the shit out of this drug, and I can't imagine that any blissful experience, regardless of how perfect, could make me lose myself enough to start doing such a dangerous drug frequently. However, everybody always seems to say that once you shoot up you're fucked- don't touch the needle, there's no going back, it's all downhill from there, etc. This shit scares me a lot, but it also kind of seems like it might be kinda bullshit. I feel that I am in control of myself, and no drug could possibly feel good enough to make me forego the risks and start injecting regularly.
I am a happy person that loves their life. I'm not unstable, depressed, or looking for an escape. I just fucking need to know what all the fuss is about so I can stop thinking about it obsessively. I don't want to spend the rest of my life wondering about what this rush feels like.
Does everyone who shoots up once get fucked for life? Just how risky is trying it?
Please help me. I really don't want to fuck my life up.

if you dont want to die without feeling the rush

then why dont you wait another 20-30 years, cuz your 25 and worrying about dieing?? lol

how risky? VERY risky, thats why they say if you use the needle you'l never look back...its true for 90% of the people who shoot up, maybe more like 70%

Honestly, I love an opiate rush as much as the next girl (she says, with a lovely melting oxy under her tongue), but the occasional ER-given Dilaudid IV is enough for me. Just knowing that every so often (even if it's once every 3 years) I will get to experience that is enough for me NOT to ever try IVing at home. If it's the truth that you just want to know what it is like, once, then get yourself a shot of Dilaudid at the ER. I'm, er, "lucky" in that I have a nerve disease that is well-know to be THE most painful condition in medical literature, and it flares up every 18 months or so (as I age, the flares will be more intense and come closer together). When I'm in a full-on, screaming like a wounded animal, psychotic with pain flare, I don't enjoy the Dilaudid because A) it doesn't effing HELP and B) they have to give me so much that I'm at constant risk of stopping breathing (per ER staff) and that's just not fun. However, when I'm having a moderate flare-up, and I get a shot of Dilaudid...well, there is nothing in the entire world like it. Know what's even better? Being ever so slightly-to-moderately dope sick and getting an IV of Dilaudid. Oh Jesus...

For me, I can FEEL it moving through my veins, touching and lighting up and bathing every single cell in euphoria the intensity of which I cannot describe, but continue to try. That feeling....as it washes through your veins and makes every microscopic fiber of your body and soul feel on fire with joy and warmth and safety and sex and music and ocean-swimming and youth and running fast and your first GOOD kiss and eating buttery crab legs barefoot with your lover on the beach and lullabies and peonies and....it's just gooood. Or God.

But then you come home from the hospital and you know you must never ever EVER do that at home, to yourself, because if you DO, you will never again experience sex and music and ocean-swimming and youth and running fast and your first GOOD kiss and eating buttery crab legs barefoot with your lover on the beach and lullabies and peonies again, because instead, 10 years later, you will find yourself having replaced all of that with opiates. And then it's 10 years gone and it's too late to have kids and yeah, you're OK superficially, everyone thinks you are OK, but you don't seek out those REAL pleasure anymore because what's in the pill or the needle is easier and it's enough. But it's fucking NOT enough. And you gave up having kids. And you look around you and realize that, since you don't have kids, all you REALLY have to look forward to now is a slow decline. No one you love is on the way UP, everyone is on the way DOWN. Getting older, getting sicker, no milestones anymore, all the weddings and baby showers are over and all your fucking friends talk about is their kids and you can't exactly say "my oxycontin said 'i love you' for the first time today!" so yeah, I would think twice about IVing your drugs. Eventually, you'll break a bone or get appendicitis or your gall bladder will blow up and you'll get a needle full of Dilaudid in the ER and you'll know what it's all about. Meanwhile, you are 25 and have every choice in the world in front of you. Ten years slips by fucking FAST.

I shoot and the rush isn
t as amazing as everyone says you just get high faster...

Depends on the drug. I'll agree with you on this for oxycodone (though I love the comeup when you shoot those, a gradual smooth liftoff into bliss) but this in no way pertains to morphine, hydromorphone or heroin.

all that you need to know, like everyone else has said, is that it is just not worth it. you could do it just one time, or you could throw your life away.

my quality of life is so much lower now from IV opiates. behind the few moments of pleasure is a world of pain and stress. it will inevitably become your one true love.

for me it started with one hit of oxycodone. simple curiosity like you. now my entire day revolves around oxymorphone... don't become a slave to this shit!

you really are better off never knowing how it feels.
