my hand was getting unsteady as i was pushing down the plunger and i know for a fact i hit it at first because i drew back blood but as i was pushing down i noticed soreness and slight swelling how do i know if i missed? is it dangerous.

I expect you know by now.

There will always be danger of contamination and damage to the circulatory system when intravenously injecting chemicals which aren't pharmaceutical grade.

sounds like you missed it could turn into an abscess but i've done it quite a few times and it just went away in a few days

As others said it can get infected and get worse. Simply make sure you cleaned the area and apply antibiotic cream. I know it probably doesn't do much but all you can really do is help to avoid infection. It will fade in a few days, if it gets worse go to a doctor and state "I got this from using intravenous heroin" just don't be embarrassed you are a drug user who wants his limbs to shoot more drugs into. Please if it gets worse see a doctor.

if you missed

it would hurt/burn a little while injecting
there will be a lump where you missed. The size of the lump depending on how much you missed.
you wont get a rush

only thing you can do is run how water over it a few times a day. When I say hot I mean as hot as you can stand. Do it for 15min at a time at least 5 times a day.

there was a lump for like a day but i agree i believe i only missed a little.
and i was injecting oxycodone not much a rush if any at all.

I missed plenty in the beginning...my arm was sore for a couple days but never anything else. Use common sense..keep an eye on it. Signs of localized infection are redness, tenderness and warmth. If you start to have signs of systemic infection (fever) get on some antibiotics...just keep an eye on it. I have heard that pills are more worrisome due to larger particles that can't diffuse through into bloodstream....

There will be s a light burn/pain and a bump/lump. You'll be just fine. SWIM had done this with a full shot before and it took like about a month for it to go go down to normal. DO NOT TRY TO SLICE OPEN THE ABCESS TO "FIX" IT. ONE JUST MIGHT END UP DOING MORE DAMAGE THAN ONE STARTED WITH. (SORRY FOR THE CAPS). Looks like nothing happened. Best to stay away from needles/IV/IM, through. Not a good road to go down. Just a word od advice.

^I'll say it before someone else does...we don't use SWIM on this site. It offers you zero protection from the law and is really annoying.

My two cents from a somewhat retired junkie with lots of OG junkie friends...

Hold the injection spot over your head (sounded like hand or arm IV....) rub gently from time to time to try to get obscurity loose... Just try not to miss. I have random bulges in the veins in my legs. I am only 27, so probably shouldn't have...

Sorry to potentially hijack the thread, my girl shot me up yesterday and we registered and saw blood but when she shot it i got a burning sensation at the site and after she pulled out i had a small red rash and large bump on the area. I didn't get high or receive a rush at all. This makes me assume I missed. All i did was rub the area for about 15 minutes and it went away and today there is no pain or redness or anything, which makes me think I didn't miss. What gives?

BTW this only about my 5th time being shot up. Dno't know if that matters.

Sounds like a definite miss. I've missed shots before that go away the next day. What I do now is I register, start the injection slowly and if i don't feel any pain, then i have at it. I also always draw blood after I finished my shot for piece of mind, cause obviously if you see venous blood then you were doing it right

My two cents, as I was here looking for shooting tips myself (didn't find the specific ones I was looking for though).

If you feel burning and see swelling, then it's a miss. Try to register in the beginning and once again when you release the tourniquet. And then once more when you are half way through. You didn't feel high from missed hit, because you didn't get that inicial iv rush (which is why you probably iv'd in the first place), but most definitely the drug wasn't a total lost, it still was in your body and is slowly getting metabolized. Sometimes hot water helps to dissolve the "miss" and still get use of drugs (=feel the buzz eventually).
