Like the title says..I just posted this on facebook and it's dedicated to all the hudson valley/ tri state area deaths recently related to substance abuse.....---------::

In regard and respect to all the recent acquaintances and friends I've lost from using and abusing substances; IF NOTHING ELSE; please try and be safe and think before you act/use. I know first hand the ups and downs of using, and I know how it can quickly escalate and even take you over. Be educated, be weary and most of all consider the consequences. I've watched as friends and people I've met along the way have destroyed more than just their own lives with substances, I've seen entire families torn and strewn apart from a single person's carelessness and selfishness; not only that but their sickness. I'm not one to post up on facebook and shit like that but for some reason, maybe it's my mind all scrambled at 2am; but I truly felt the need to try to get through to people, even if it's one person. I'm speaking from experience and speaking as someone who cares. Drug abuse is not easy and if you're in that situation and wishing to overcome it; you can. The only person who can make that decision is you. If you don't WANT to change you won't. Want it, or need it; you're in control. The drug may manipulate you and your decision making sometimes but don't let it take everything. I'm gonna wrap it up and I really am not one to put things out there with sincerity and depth like this; but I've suffered from it to the fullest, on and off, sober and not. I know how difficult it can be sometimes, just remember it's not only your life that you're going to effect when you make decisions involving substances. Sometimes the best high is the one that makes you feel like shit in the short term aspect. As a person who is nearly always thinking about the short term reward, it really is time to start thinking about your future and what could or can be if you put forth the effort and dedication. Don't waste it on something as worthless as a high. Get off the short term, and dedicate and try for the long term. No one is too far gone. Drugs are a choice, you're never in too deep to achieve redemption and return yourself to the feeling of true happiness..THINK.

Indeed, this would be more proper as a post for your blog, but since you're not at bluelighter status just yet, and the message is strongly harm reductive, I'm happy to leave this here for now.

Thanks for taking time to create this nice writeup. :D

Great post. Great points. Very sound advice. It's good to hear this kind of positivity. Not only is it inspiring, if more people showed the same spirit, it could help uplift all of us. Shared resolve and commitment can have transformative effects.
