Things go pear shaped at the stroke of midnight

When the clock strikes 12 on new years eve, whats everyone planning/hoping they will be doing?

What if you are a loner amongst a bunch of coupled up friends what is a good way to not look like such a dingleberry if you have no one to snog? Should I pretend I really need the loo and spend "auld lang syne" taking a fake crap whilst everyone else is snogging/drinking/saluting the new year?

Give me some tips fellow bluelighters, it only comes around once a year and Ive always either had my (now) ex to snog at the stroke of midnight or we have been too off our faces to really know what the hell is going on. This time around things are different.

How else to bring in the new year....maybe a flaming lamborghini or a decent whack of k?

What is your perfect new years scenario? A beach party surrounded by all your friends and topless waitresses running around in grass skirts?

Perhaps slumming it in front of an open fireplace in the French Alps with Johnny Depp?

Its probably a little early to start ruminating seriously about new years plans but Id like to have a few fantasy ideas to try to work something actually achievable out.

I'll be in sydney!

NYE is my birthday, so im getting outta the state, and getting fucked up!!

Hopefully in some kind of room with flashing lights and lasers and smoke machines, with a whole bunch of mates... but its still a few months away so anything could happen

That's pretty much what we're doing - minus the topless waitresses (although, they'd be more than welcome ;))

A friend is having a Hawaiian Beach themed party this year, it's too damned hot up here in brisbane to be in much more than bikinis and a sarong in summer.

Pool, cocktails, good friends and loads of lei-ing ;)

This year, probably nothing (for the first time in many years), given I can't get any decent time off work because of my 3-week wedding/honeymoon break just prior.

I'm back at work on Jan 2 :( So it will be a quiet-ish one for me.

My ultimate New Years would actually involve a fair bit more money than I currently have... I'd love to take a group of good friends out on a boat on Sydney Harbour and watch the fireworks... although I've had an equally spectacular (my best ever) new years, sitting on Broadbeach at the Gold Coast with my sister cuddled up on the sand, watching the waves roll in and fending off random guys trying to pick us up :D

I wanna candyflip for the first time!

I want to be kissing a hot boy/hugging all my friends/screaming my lungs out!

wouldnt it be cool if you could do all 3 things at once? ;)

New Years have always been a major let down for me!

I tend to have the most fun when I least expect it! This New Years, I have no idea what I'm doing - Moosh and Witch Doc may be coming to Melbourne to spend it with ME [ok and Raz and Rats] so if that's the case - they get choice of what we do!

Otherwise I'll let my best friend organize what I'm doing... she's an idea's person! :D

^ what do you do at the stroke of midnight usually? Snog the person next to you? Shove some powdery goodness up your nose? Cartwheel? Hide in the toilet?

^^ The first and second suggestions haha. Surely there'll be someone round you to snog, hopefully several. Kiss your mates, even chicks (I find it ususally happens at big events+lotsa booze n drugs). Given that their single n u wanna 'course.
I'm already looking forward n thinking about NYs haha. Was talking to my friend about it the other day, we are thinking bout staying somewhere near the beach for a few days over NYs, getting a group together, actually going somewhere for a change. But probably already too late to book somewhere, plus we are the kinda group that talks bout doing a lotta things but never commit to them (like putting money aside for events etc) :\
I'm still gona look into it tho, maybe try n get people organized/to commit. Likely end up at some friend's house party. Admittedly, I'd like to be out at a club or something dancing like a lunatic but don't think any of my friends would be in on that :(

Either way whatever happens I know its gona be a lotta fun and rather messy, NYs is the ultimate excuse to get really fucked up :D (not in a dangerous/fatal way of course). Gona stockpile goodies for it haha. Well try to heh. I'd like to maybe try sumfin different/new, well least round that time of year, n got some ideas but depends on ability to organize.

Anyways...hehe I jus remembered, how it was when the clock striked 12 last year. Well everyone was sorta outta it/too pre occupied with having a good time/socialising n no one realised it was nearing 12. Well I did amazingly enuf I ran around shouting at everyone countdown was soon n went and turned on the radio sitting out on the balcony to hear the countdown n I made everyone join in. N the I was real chuffed I did that hehe but I was in a very happy mood anyway ;)

I fly back into Sydney around 3pm ... so from that point, I'm not sure what I'll be doing. Maybe a few drinks, but no drugs, somewhere.

Unless i can convince all my hot friends to come with me i'm going to go with powdery goodness/reach for the lasers. Although i can usually never remember what happens on the stroke of midnight so i suppose it doesn't really matter.

I was too fucked up to realise it was midnight this last NYE/D.
In fact, I think about 3 people at the party were sober enough to notice.

I plan on repeating that feat.
me that is, not the entire party.

Something much cooler than most years.

Sadly over the last couple of NYE's my group of friends and I end up going out somewhere as a kind of "token" effort and then ending up at someones house charging and partying until about 7pm on Jan 1. That is all good and well but I am sick of being indoors and starting every year with feeling as if I am a reanimated corpse come Jan 2.

So to flip the script I think we are all going to cool event on the beach... paying the $150 or so for a ticket and enjoying all the fine food and drink that the ticketprice buys.

Come sun up I look forward to be sitting on the sand and maybe getting in the water as soon as the morning is warm enough.

At 12.01 though? I could be just about anywhere. For the hell of it I will say that I will be clinking glasses mid "cheers!" with all my mates and just about ready to have another long sip of Corona.

Yeah, I have missed several count downs due to my fucked up state, it is the only acceptable way to bring in the new year. Last year we did the countdown around ten times and didnt get it right once, then missed the real one.

indeedy.
we got wind of it coz the neighbors were giving it a go.
then we just wandered around wondering why they were counting down to 10

<3 acid

down >TO< 10?

Surely thouest meanth (sorry, slurring - drunk)
Count down FROM 10? Unless your compadre's neighbors are demented?

Funny how acid makes the whole new years element of it seem so unimportant ;)

I know what I want to be doing this new years (beach housing it up), but it may not come off due to most places being booked already. Shoulda started planning this a whole lot earlier.

Last year at midnight I was standing at bondi, watching fat boy slim, with a big crowd of good friends... one of the most memorable new years I've had.

Will still ava squizz at potential accomm (if any) 2moro....
oh wait *smacks head* u don't live in Melb do you? haha but the lets-go-to-the-beach-for-NYs is nation-wide notion :D
