Benzos Theory to help lessen benzo addiction/withdrawals/tolerance

So, I do benzo's pretty regularly. Mainly Valium, the odd Xanax and very odd Lorazepam.

What system would work to prevent addiction, withdrawals, and crazy tolerance (mild tolerance is fine)?

I've been doing 10mg to 40mg Valium daily lately and have been for the past year or so and for a couple weeks at a time. But, I take breaks. I'll take a few weeks off or sometimes even a couple months.

So, if I were to take 10-40mg Valium daily for two weeks. Then take two weeks off and during those two weeks take daily doses of 40-60mg DXM. Then quit the DXM and start up again?

Would that still be too risky to get addicted or anything? I'm fine now and it's been a year.

I just want to enjoy them, as they are my favourite, in the safest way possible.

Also, if anyone else had any other tips in terms of staying healthy with benzo use that would be greatly appreciated. (I know the whole mixing with alcohol is a no-no thing, haha)

Thanks

I used to take my benzos in a similiar way, each month I`d get 40 2mg Lorazepam then take them daily for 1-2 weeks until all were finished then wait til next month til I got more and repeated this. It does prevent withdrawal but I`d get some rebound effects after each little binge.

I thought about doing something similiar to what you mentioned, but replace dxm with opiates. 2 weeks on benzos then 2 weeks on opiates. I think if I get a job soon I might try this just to control my anxiety when I`m around people.

Don't take benzos recreationally, problem solved.

All benzodiazepines cause physical (and quite often mental) dependence. Especially with daily usage. There's no way around it.

I tried to do this for awhile. Your body changes over time and withdrawal gets more likely as time goes on. The last time I used benzos, I got my most serious addiction ever from just 0.5 - 1mg alprazolam on most days over three weeks.

Is your theory that DXM will offset the withdrawals and lower tolerance in order to sustain your benzo use? This is precisely what I'm most interested in doing. I'm planning to use MXE along with benzos in a hope to maintain some sort of balance and not end up on a massive dose that doesn't work. I'm just not sure how well it works or whether it is sustainable.

Most of my tips for safe benzo use are practical ones, like making sure you do not lose your benzos or have them stolen. And avoiding dangerous situations like driving.

That's exactly what I'm saying, yes.

Also... Thanks to all the other responses. Experiences are insightful, as well. I shall see how this goes.

may work for awhile. but i think you would have better chances if you kept to using short acting benzos, like xanax and ativan, due to halflife of valium. could be wrong about the way tolerance develops but figure the longer a drug and its metabolites stay in a system the more tolerance develops. good luck though

Thats a horrible idea dude, 2 weeks daily is a lot for benzos. You can get away doing that with low dose opiates ime, but not with benzos. Even 1 week daily will make you have minor withdrawals the first day you start with out any benzos. In my opinion if you want to do it on a regular basis, try like 2-3 days in a row and at least 2 days off then start back up again.

When using NMDA antagonists for tolerance reduction, it is generally said to be most effective if you take it on the days that you are taking the drug, not just during breaks. So you would be taking the DXM daily, whether or not you took benzos. You'd also be better off not using benzos on consecutive days, in terms of building tolerance.
